Room was nice a bit dated, the beds were very comfortable. Unfortunately the staff were extremely disappointing. On arrival our room wasn’t ready. We were asked to sit in the bar area if yo wait. I ordered a coffee and my friend wanted a pot of tea. The staff mrmber was not friendly. Looked like it was an inconvenience she had to do it. She then put the coffee, the pot of tea, cup and saucer on the bar and carried on. No tray. I am over 60 and capable , but by the time I did a couple of trips to take this to my friend I wondered why the staff member didn’t have the courtesy to offer to help me. I wanted a coffee the next morning but was told the bar was not open until 12. Despite there being staff around I was told about the cafe over the road. Very disappointing and made the stay that little bit less memorable.

On the day of arrival, they canceld our reservation... Without a reason or comment.

Arrived and we had been upgraded to a superior room which was brilliant, absolutely 0 faults for the bedroom which was very clean and spacious and an absolute bargain for what we paid. The hotel itself is beautiful, very well kept and very stylish. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Great location especially with the tram right outside. We were concerned the noise may be loud due to the bars outside but as we were quite high up (12th floor), we couldn’t hear a thing. Only issues we found were the fact the windows didn’t open at all, I’m sure this is for safety reasons but meant the room was very hot. The aircon is great, but would have preferred a window to open slightly for some fresh air. Also, the lifts were a bit of a pain due to everyone trying to check out at the same time so found we had to wait for about 10 minutes for a lift as many went past which were too full, also one had an issue where the doors were stuck on ‘door opening’ and wouldn’t close, which was annoying. I would still definitely stay again when visiting Birmingham, and would recommend to anyone. Such a gem in the heart of the city centre!
