Purple Hotel Birmingham

Let me start by saying that previous reviews about this hotel are complete rubbish. They obviously want to stay at the Ritz for budget prices. We found the room to be excellent, it was spotless and ultra clean. The food, although we only had breakfast for a few days the food was absolutely beautifully cooked with more choice than most places weve stayed in. The staff were always helpfull and smartly dressed, especially Anastasia, she always looked immaculate and was extremely helpful. The Ritz it isnt, but the service and the people are just as good if not better because they dont expect a tip at the end of their help. We would definately stay here again, as although its not in the centre of the city its only 2½ miles away and only a short taxi ride to Birmingham Airport and just over 3 miles to the main Train station which links the midlands to the rest of the country. Added bonus was free wifi and the desk is manned 24/7. Great little budget hotel with links to everywhere

I’ve stayed here a couple of times over the last few years for work, and the staff have always been friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, the hotel itself is looking very tired and is in serious need of some TLC. My room was okay overall, but there was a dried bloodstain on the carpet and the whole place could really do with some attention. Breakfast was fine, but I noticed a significant build-up of dust and cobwebs on the signs hanging directly above the food, which raised some concerns about hygiene. The meeting room we hired was also in poor condition, with parts of the ceiling hanging down, marks and scrapes on the walls, and tired-looking tables. It’s disappointing to see a hotel in such a great location allowed to go downhill. The staff do their best, but the building desperately needs investment. Unfortunately, I doubt we’ll stay again unless some much-needed TLC is carried out.

I was surprised by how good this hotel is. I hadnt stayed at a Holiday Inn Express before but this one was just excellent. The rooms were huge, had everything you could ask for and the breakfast in the morning (which is part of the nightly fee) was really good. The bar had a good range of drinks, which were a little pricey but acceptable given the location.
