Royal Court

Fantastic place - the main house and grounds were absolutely gorgeous. Stayed in the new part of the hotel myself due to my lack of mobility - if i remember rightly, there weren't any lifts and l'd struggle carrying my bags up n down stairs. Lovely staff, nice pool, sauna and steam room. However, could definitely do with a relaxation area - some sunbeds around the pool perhaps. For a 3 star hotel, considering l actually believed it was 4, it really was exceptional value - great place to take your wife or girlfriend for a birthday surprise. The staff were friendly on reception, Their was no A/C the upper floors were stifling just a desk fan in room, Poor out dated Hotelthe room was clean, the bed was uncomfortable, nice big telly, there was no water glasses, The door didn’t lock from the out side, we did phone reception and they said some one was coming up, they didn't, we phoned again and was told they are looking to change our room. This was Saturday night, we were told there was no maintenance in until Monday. We were only there for one night so took our valuables with us and went for food. The food was disgusting people were waiting for it to come out, there was not enough, we had a few bits of tomato and cucumber and a bread roll for starters, there was soup but it was really hot out side so who wants hot soup, then out came a tray of roast beef in water, it looked rank, I ended up with a fish cake and some crappy chips and peas, The gateaux was very nice. The breakfast fried egg was ok, beans were cheap ones , sausages were nice, mushrooms were tin ones, the scrambled egg was rank. The bar was short staffed, the bar staff worked their socks off, they ran out of ice, they ran out of glasses. To top it all it is a dog friendly hotel but dogs are not allowed to go in the bar or where food is served. We had to ask some guests who we didn’t know to look after our little dog while we ate.

No air con, horrendous outdated, poor water pressure, trickle water out shower Really unhelpful staff. £80 a night is daylight robbery for this hotel. Wouldn’t stay there if you paid me.
