Minworth Lodge

Bed Bugs We were supposed to stay for a week at the lodge but we had to cut our stay short on the very first night because of a bed bug crawling on the pillow. There was no emergency/out of hours number to contact on the night so we had to find last minute accommodation. In the morning, I spoke to the manager. I informed them of the bed bug currently held under a glass in our room. I asked if they wanted to see it but they did not want to. I was told it may not be a bed bug and that they need to get pest control in to verify. I have taken the attached video and photos so we may not forget what was on scene. I asked for a refund for our stay or for some compensation but they would not do so. They also said that even if it was a bed bug there needs to be an infestation of hundreds before they consider offering a refund. They did not apologise and there seemed to be no remorse in their tone or words. In fact their reaction seemed scripted like they have had this problem before. They simply told me no refunds and they'll get pest control in that day or soon after. This was on Thursday morning. I am writing this review on Monday, 4 days after the event. They told me they would email me with updates: they have not. Either they are keeping the bed bug alive until pest control arrive, or I dread to think they have disposed of the bed bug before pest control arrive. I am still open to a refund if they choose to contact me. The above is our biggest problem with this place: bedbugs, lack of accountability and lack of action. Cons: Bedbug in our bed Smelled of sewage on arrival (we understand this is the surrounding area not the hotel itself) Shower was stuck on hot/scalding (there was no cold section) Not a lot of storage space nor surface space Out of hours lock on the gate locked from the inside so it is possible to be locked out in the night if you leave the building Lack of accountability from the staff or any apology But this would not be a fair review if we did not also point out the good things. Pros: Very cheap place to stay (£350 for the week!) Nice staff/service when it comes to non material jobs/requests Fun evening events during the week in the bar area Parking is free and accessible I hope this review reaches people who are considering staying here. I would suggest you do not unless you are desperate for a cheap stay.

We used this club a couple times during May and met a lovely couple who was running the club Freda & Lee , what a fantastic couple , they made us feel so special and looked after all my family . They offered superb professional service . I thought we would go back again due to this but was really saddened to fine they had left , there was no feel for the club and no seemed interested so we left and never to go back . We would if Freda & Lee was there . I’d have them run my business without a problem. Your loss Minworth club 🫩

We had a great multi birthday day celebration accross 3 generations attended by 3 family grouos from all over the country. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the excellent buffet . I would recommend this as a venue.
