The hotel feels tired and in need of refurbishment in order to maintain a steady flow of customers. When I visited, on entering the bathroom they'd simply used tiles to hide holes with the grout that had discoloured.

Only one member of staff on duty for the whole hotel when we arrived ,she was lovely and tried her best .The reception looked stark bare and unwelcoming as did the rest of the ground floor . The bar was not open and the restaurant looked as if there had been an event which hadn’t been cleaned up. The hotel was very tatty with scuffed peeling paintwork, the carpet threadbare in places and dirty. There were unpleasant stains on the furniture. No hairdryer in the room, no tea ,coffee or mugs . The towels were threadbare ,the television didn’t work, nor did the Wi Fi. It is on a main road by traffic lights and the noise is awful and the heating on full blast . It has much more in keeping with a poor hostel than a hotel and it is £100 a night.

Had booked elsewhere but was cancelled on last minute so booked in here. At 120 something pounds a night i was outraged. The room had a shower which you could only use if kneeling down and ranged from scalding to freezing. The toilet paper was that super thin awful stuff. The bed was 2 singles together that kept sliding apart and the sheet wasnt fitted so you ended up on matress which is hardly hygenic. They were fairly comfortable though.
The room was just generally very run down, grubby and substandard. There was a kettle but no actual cups or tea and coffee supplies. When we went to reception we were told they had initially cancelled bookings to house refugees but when the contract wasnt signed they opened again but nothing was ready hence the lack of tea and coffee. I appreciate it must be hard opening with no notice and limited staff and feel for the staff but management should not open if not ready. Especially charging £120 a night for an unserviced room. I would say this was 1 star maybe 1 and a half at a push.
The receptionist was lovely though and its not too bad as a location.
