George Hotel

The location of the hotel is convenient, especially if you plan on using public transport or trains. The hotel is also quite tidy and clean. However, some rooms are located in the basement, and if you are staying here, do avoid those. As mentioned, it was clean and nice, but no AC (and it is hot in that basement), window was hard to lock and we had people hanging around that window constantly which does not feel too safe. Our bathroom was so tiny, I have no idea how people taller than 180cm could even move around; even the sink was horribly tiny, a soap bar could barely fit. The staff was okay, did not have too much contact with them, which is not very fun when you need to check out and no one can be found, there is no bell to ring and no one is answering the phone. Depends what you’re looking for, but if you plan on just showering and sleeping, and spending the rest of the day outside, you will be fine.

We had a pleasant stay! The hotel is truly charming in an old building typical of London houses. Everything was very clean, and the bathrooms as well as the decorations have been recently renovated with taste. Breakfast is quite acceptable if you enjoy an English-style breakfast. It is located in a quiet neighborhood (no noise at night) and close to the Pancras station. The staff was very friendly as well! I highly recommend it.

Trying to find a good place to stay in London which is fairly central and doesnt cost the earth is always difficult, but this place was a good find, and we would certainly consider staying here again in the future. There was a friendly welcome when we arrived at reception, and we were swiftly checked in and directed to our room. We were staying in a room on the very top floor (3rd floor), and as the Hotel listing states there is no lift, but luckily our bags weren’t too heavy. Our room was very compact, with the double bed just about fitting the width of the room, but it had all the things necessary for a good stay (kettle, television and clean towels). The ensuite again was compact, with the toilet and basin functioning well. The shower on the other hand was a bit hit-and-miss, as you needed to time it when the water pressure is at its greatest, ie. when other showers in the building aren’t being used! When timed right, it was a good temperature and pressure. Morning breakfast was a bit manic, but the buffet hot breakfast was very tasty and is constantly refilled. The staff are very helpful with providing hot tea or coffee when requested. There are also lots of cold options, like cereals, cheese, meats, and fruit. The hotel is situated in a crescent with a small park in the centre, and is nicely off the busy main roads, so at night it was quite quiet and we both managed to have a good night’s sleep. Kings Cross train station and underground is approximately a ten minute walk, and the same for the British Museum. We watched a show at the Dominion Theatre, Oxford Street, and it took us about 18 minutes to walk back to the Hotel after it had finished. As stated at the start of this review, we would consider staying at this hotel again, but probably on a lower floor with slightly larger room.
