Haven Hotel

We knew it was going to be basic. Pleasantly surprised when arriving in reception. Was bright and spacious. Receptionist was really lovely. Very friendly and helpful. We stayed during heatwave, the heat in room was stifling. There was a fan provided but made no difference unfortunately. The room was basic, old fashioned. Shower was good. Room needed updated. Rusty mirror. Damaged furniture. Very run down

Worst experience. There was no duvet, no heater, and no hot water in the shower. The receptionist (Ariana) initially said she would provide a reasonable refund, but processed a much lower amount instead. After we cancelled the transaction, they refused to offer any refund. Very disappointing experience. I would not recommend staying here.

First of all, let me state the positives. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the location is ideal. That unfortunately is where the positive end. I took my daughter on a trip to the theatre for her birthday. We booked the hotel on location and price, and some of the positive reviews. The room was small to start but that’s not an issue it was only a one night. The bedding was wholly inadequate we had credit card thin pillows, a bottom sheet, top sheet and a blanket. The patio door had a huge gap and the top bolt did not engage so couldn’t be fully closed. Had we not been in a rush to get out we would have absolutely changed rooms at that point. The whole room was dilapidated, the unit was coming apart, blood marks on the mattress although the mattress had been flipped. I only noticed when in I checked under the bed in case any of our stuff had rolled under there. The shower rail and cup holder were rusted badly and the whole room looked like a place we were likely to be murdered in. The pièce de résistance however was in the fridge. I checked the freezer compartment to be hit by a waft of ammonia so strong I gagged. There lay some black material in there which given the sight and the smell meant that someone had, had a liquid accident then stuffed the pants in the freezer. This obviously hadn’t been cleaned in some time. Needless to say after a night of zero sleep we packed and left as soon as my daughter woke up.
