I just returned from a quick trip to London at the end of a longer vacation and stayed at Hotel 41 for 2 nights. I've been traveling to London for more than 30 years, from when I was much younger and broke to many business trips and, more recently, staying at some much nicer hotels. I've stayed all over the city and definitely have my favorites, so I'm surprised I'd never heard of Hotel 41 before.
I chose it mainly because we were arriving at Gatwick and the location near Victoria Station made it very convenient. I was also intrigued by the incredible reviews. I knew the Rubens next door, but had never stayed there, so I watched a few YouTube videos about Hotel 41 before booking and it looked like a very unique experience.
From the moment we arrived, I understood the reviews. Check-in takes place upstairs in the lounge and it immediately felt like we were being welcomed into a private club. This was also my first introduction to the level of service here. I've stayed at many 5 star hotels around the world including Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, Okura and Taj properties, and Hotel 41 had some of the best service I've ever experienced.
What makes the service so impressive is that it isn't pretentious at all. Everyone seemed genuinely interested in taking care of anything we needed, but at the same time they were incredibly friendly and approachable. It almost felt like being taken care of by friends. I've never seen a hotel balance impeccable service with that level of warmth quite this well.
Our room was small, but that's typical for London, and there was an incredible amount of attention to detail throughout the room. We even had a view toward the Buckingham Palace Mews. I also have to mention the air conditioning! As an American who struggles with European AC in the summer, I've learned which London hotels have good air conditioning. Hotel 41 has officially set a new standard. The room could get VERY cold. There were actually times I had to turn the temperature up, which is something I don't think I've ever said during a summer trip to London.
My only minor criticism of the room was the shower, which was extremely small. It was difficult to shower without constantly being under the water. In the hotel's defense, there was also a shower over the bathtub that I could have used. Given the age and design of many London buildings, I understand they have to work with the space available.
The service continued to impress throughout our stay. The lounge really does feel like a private club and we had a great breakfast there. Housekeeping was also exceptional. One day I worked from the room for most of the day and assumed we'd missed the cleaning window. I mentioned that we'd only be leaving later for dinner and was genuinely surprised to return to a completely cleaned room. Even the little details impressed me, like neatly organizing and tying up my power cords.
I really can't say enough good things about Hotel 41. Unfortunately, it's a little outside what I can spend on my business trips, but for personal trips this has officially become my new favorite hotel in London. After more than 30 years of staying at hotels throughout the city, that's saying a lot. I actually hesitated a bit in writing this review because I'm worried as more people discover this property the rates will increase significantly. I almost want to keep this hotel a secret! Ha! But as a frequent traveler and hotel snob, I must give Hotel 41 credit where it is due.

Visited with my mum as other members of our family have stayed before and she wanted to experience it too.
Nice to see that there are many of the same staff members still working there.
Requested a news view room this time and was lucky enough to receive one, which despite looking over a busy road, was so quiet that you forgot where you were until you looked out of the window.
Mum loved it and didn't want to leave.
I think she found it amazing that every member of the team knew who you were and your room number.
We were on the midweek package which included the afternoon tea, which was delicious.
Always nice to talk to other guests too.
We did experience a couple of minor issues, which were dealt with quickly and professionally and they certainly wouldn't stop future visits or recommendations to others.
Would also like to mention Pascal ,the man from the Rubens who could get a taxi for you as if by magic....the way he does it is amazing.

I had an excellent stay at Hotel 41. Even before my arrival, the team were incredibly helpful in answering my questions and ensuring everything was arranged for a smooth visit.
The room was spotless, and I especially appreciated the evening turndown service. The boutique layout, with the Executive Lounge at the heart of the hotel, created a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere where it was easy to enjoy breakfast or simply unwind.
What really made the stay special was the service. Several members of the team recognised me by name, there was always someone at the entrance to welcome me back or help arrange a taxi, and everyone took a genuine interest in how my day had been. One member of staff even prepared a personalised list of recommendations for me to read over while I was having breakfast.
The location may not be ideal for everyone, particularly if your main focus is Soho, Covent Garden or the City of London. However, for exploring Westminster, Buckingham Palace, St James's, Belgravia and Mayfair, I found it excellent. Although some destinations are a little farther away, there was always a member of staff available to arrange a taxi, making it incredibly easy to get anywhere in London.
Hotel 41 exceeded my expectations in every respect, and I hope to return on a future visit to London.
