Ramada by Wyndham South Mimms M25

Sometimes life really does make you expect the unexpected. Following an emergency at home, I found myself staying at Ramada South Mimms for what I thought would be a short period, but ended up being there for a few months. What started as a very stressful and unexpected situation became an experience I’ll always remember. Umer deserves a very special mention. He was absolutely fantastic with my children so kind, patient, professional and genuinely caring. One of my daughters has additional needs, and she really connected with Umer. I truly believe children with additional needs have a way of finding their people, and he was definitely one of hers. His kindness made such a difference to us as a family and made a difficult time so much easier and you could see how genuine it was. His professionalism never went unnoticed. People like him are rare he really is a credit to the hotel and deserves serious recognition. Priya deserves a very special mention too. We just got on so well from the beginning. She’s such a kind, genuine person with the loveliest energy, and I genuinely loved seeing her throughout my stay. She became one of my favourite people there and made those few months that much more special and Ofcourse harmony energy is unmatched. And Wayne deserves a massive shout out. He is absolutely hilarious, has such a brilliant personality and brought so much laughter and positivity to the hotel. He genuinely felt like family by the end of my stay, and I’ll always remember the laughs. Of course, not every interaction was perfect and there were some members of staff I didn’t connect with as much, but that’s life and everyone is different. That said, I do feel the hotel itself needs some serious investment. The rooms are quite dated and would really benefit from a revamp, and there was also an unpleasant smell coming from the drains around level two during my stay. I also have some major concerns regarding management and how certain situations were handled during my stay. I don’t want to go into details publicly, but I did witness conduct that I found inappropriate and troubling, and it left me with some serious concerns about professionalism, discretion and the way certain matters were handled. I’ll leave it there, but hopefully those who need to reflect on it will. Ultimately, it was the people who made my stay, not the accommodation. Despite the issues, I’m genuinely grateful for the people who brought kindness, humour and warmth to what was a very unexpected few months. Although I’ll be back in the future due to ongoing work, I know my future stays will be much shorter. This stay was a unique chapter, and I don’t think any future visit will ever quite compare to the time I spent here. ❤️

Good experience at the check in. The reception lady was really nice and accommodating 😊 Nice place to stay and nice environment. Plenty of food pls es nearby. Closest to london without paying london prices

The whole place is dated and run down, but our room was pretty much what we expected and had what we needed. However, the deadlock on the room door did not work. I would not have stayed in this room if I’d been travelling alone. On checking in I had a notification on my phone telling me I’d been charged an extra £29. I had booked direct online and paid in full. The receptionist didn’t seem to know why, but said the rooms cost more than I’d originally paid. I showed him my confirmation email and paid invoice, which he asked me to send to the hotel email address. I did this straight away, but heard nothing else from anyone. On checking my credit card online it just remained as payment pending, so I asked again the next evening. He said he’d refunded it the day before and seemed a bit irritated that we’d asked again. It still shows as pending in my account. No one has explained why this happened nor apologised. It feels a little underhanded to me and doesn’t give any confidence to book again I’m afraid.
