Somerset Hotel Baker Street London

Myself and friend went for a weekend away to explore London. Booked here as reviews & photos looked good. Destination was perfect being so close to the station. On arrival confusion with booking couldn’t find booking which took 30mins, although did allow us early check in. Entrance hall/reception was old, haggard, clearly need of repair/decorating. There was a really strong smell and was very very dusty plus full of dead flowers. Room was basically in the loft of the building with no lift. Two very low beds with metal frames that actually cut my leg. Two on the wall bedside tablets at head level when in bed so could hit your head. Spent the whole night pushing mattress/mattress topper back onto the bed as slid off. Window in the bedroom wouldn’t shut. No kettle fridge or water in room. TV didn’t work so unable to watch. Again smell when came in the room also. Large gap at bottom of entrance door so heard everyone else going in/out if there rooms. Bathroom had no window and could barely turn around in there it was so small. Shower over bath however no taps for bath so had to use the shower that the head had water spraying at all angles pressure was awful. Really dangerous getting in and out of the bath with the toilet being so close definitely could have slipped over if struggled physically as nothing to hold onto. No hand towel or bin either. Overall pretty poor hotel would not recommend or return, was also woken by drilling at 645am on a Sunday which was really frustrating as come away to have a break from my young children getting me up at early hours. Really hot room so when out and about didn’t particularly want to return due to the state of the hotel and how hot it was.

Didn’t actually end up staying there however booked through booking.com went to the website to make sure the booking had gone through since booking.com doesn’t like to pass on bookings and the property is not available

Good hotel, stayed in the double room. Only complaint was a used towel leftover from night before. Other than that great service, location, room, amenities and price. Would stay again.
