COPTHORNE EFFINGHAM GATWICK

Wish I could give positive feedback but I really cannot. It's our first night out of 11 for enforced quarantine. The hotel is extremely old and dated. The room carpet has faded and torn (held together with masking tape) and the aircon isn't really doing a thing. No separate shower but a tub with tiny shower head and old shower curtain. Ancient, broken wooden wardrobes. Fridge is basically a cupboard as it's not cooling anything. Bed is conked in the middle so we have to try and hold ourselves up on our sides of the bed so that we don't roll into each other. Lunch was OK but pasta salad very bland. The only pro is perhaps the staff. Joanne (if I recall correctly) at reception is fantastic. The other staff have also been friendly for the most part. The hotel however...it's like going back in time and I still have another 10 days locked up in here. When compared with what other people have been experiencing in their quarantine hotels I really cannot justify spending £3050 to stay here. Could have gone on a stunning holiday 😖

Although I did not stay here I am still waiting for my refund 1 month after they cancelled despite 3 phone calls and 2 emails sent. Even emailed their head office without response. Guess the only way I will get my money back is to get my bank to reverse the transaction

Having booked 7 rooms in August for a birthday celebration I popped into the hotel to check amenities etc - was told at reception that all bookings are being cancelled up to November - asked the manager to cancell my booking and refund the up front payment which she promised to do immeadiately and would email confirmation - a week has passed, no email, no refund, no response to 2 cahser emails - called this morning to chase. 'manager is on the phone he will call back once he has finished. 4 hour later no call, rang again to be told he is busy doing important things! I will ask him to call you but cant say when. Awful service, awful telephone manner, poor attitude to a client you have let down.
