South Lodge

Great long weekend stay with friends and dog!. We all loved the hotel and spa. Great rooms, great service, great food - especially the Michelin starred Pass (but be prepared for a very big bill - tasting menu plus wine pairing for 3 crossed £1200!). All the staff were super helpful and friendly. Wedding anniversary celebrations recognised with a bottle of fizz and posh choccies - nice touch. Even the dog had treats supplied.

We had the most wonderful stay at South Lodge. Children are well catered for with splash times at the pool and gift packs in the room with activities and snacks. There are also games that got them exploring the grounds which are stunning. The room was immaculately clean and the food and service from the staff was exceptional.

Stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is in a stunning location with great views and plenty areas to go for a walk. Beautiful old building but our bedroom was super modern inside ( Grooms) which is exactly to our taste with a stunning vaulted ceiling, huge comfy bed and fantastic walk in shower. Not all bedrooms have AC ( check when booking) but during this heatwave we were so lucky to have it which was perfect. All snacks and drinks in the room were complimentary which I thought was a lovely touch. We had b reakfast both mornings in the hotel restaurant ( you can go to the spa for less formal affair) but we loved it and I have to say some of the best breakfast food and service we have ever had!! The staff were formal but friendly and efficient. The bar is lovely for drinks on the terrace outside. It is all table service. The reason for 4☆ is on our 1st night we ordered drinks and after 25mins , we could not get anyone's attention ( we weren't the only ones) had to leave as still hadnt had a drink. Though they did bring " bar snacks" and noticed we didn't have a drink but did nothing!! Not the best start. But after e had been out for dinner at 9 30pm drinks came straight away.!! I would still come back though as it didnt deter from a nice stay.
