We went to Angmering Manor for our Anniversary on Tuesday. We have been before and one of our meals was disappointing but we decided to give it another go as it is a short walk from home. Sadly it was once again disappointing. The hotel itself is lovely and has so much potential but clearly they were not geared up to serve dinner at 7.30. The young man from the bar did not know his stock. We ordered a bottle of wine and a bottle of water. Both were brought to the table and left unopened on the table. No tasting, no pouring. The food itself was ok. But as we were eating the room was being set up for breakfast and we felt like we were just an inconvenience. We were asked if we wanted the dessert menu only then to be told the kitchen was closed and they weren’t serving desserts. We were ushered from our table despite not having finished our wine. We went to the bar but were immediately moved to the Snug. From start to finish we just felt we were in the way. I have to say if you are not geared up to serve dinner at 7.30 on a Tuesday don’t take a booking. If you take a booking the deliver a good experience. A poor review is the last thing a business needs

Beautiful property let down by poor maintenance and service. The grounds and public areas have a lovely, historic charm as you walk in, and we were initially very impressed by the environment. Unfortunately, our room did not match what was advertised in the booking, and the overall experience was let down by a noticeable lack of maintenance. There was limescale on the shower hose, a dusty extractor fan, and the window blinds were broken. The hairdryer in the room was dated and broken (though a replacement was later left outside our door). When I asked for some shampoo and conditioner, I was told the bottle provided was a 3-in-1, which looked exactly like the green liquid used for the hand soap. Furthermore, the shower gel dispenser had fallen off the wall and was replaced by an unlabelled bottle of Original Source balanced on the shower tap. While it was great to have the pool to ourselves, the water had a tissue and other debris floating in it, and several tiles had come off which were put in a plant pot. The bedding felt very low quality, with thin, flimsy pillows that didn't offer much support. Breakfast was okay, and we were greeted initially upon arrival. However, the waiter seemed to have vanished after we sat down. I eventually had to go and stand outside the kitchen to wait and order breakfast and a cup of tea. The continental selection was also very sparse, with only two pastries left out. This place has so much potential given its beautiful old environment and friendly front-desk staff, but it severely lacks the upkeep and basic standards expected. Whilst we were pleased to have a room to stay in last minute, This is definitely NOT four stars

Good location in Angmering village which is very pleasant. Parking on site. Initial impression, really nice property but very run down and in clear need of maintenance. Short wait to check in, given a key to the front door as it is locked at 10pm. Bar closes at 9.30pm as does the garden. We were informed breakfast was until 10am. We stayed in room 207, superior double room priced at £203. The room was quite large but in poor shape, badly laid out with oversize furniture, cupboards and a sofa with a very large stain on it. There was a scorch mark on the carpet from an iron. No glasses for water or water in the room. Bed was comfortable and bedding reasonable. The bathroom was dire. Extremely dated and in very poor condition, there was a bath with shower which didn’t turn off fully, mould around the shower screen. The remains of a shaving/ make up mirror were evident but the mirror was missing. The towels were poor quality. Breakfast is in the restaurant which seems to be where effort with the decor has been made, pleasant room overlooking the garden. The cooked breakfast was ok, there was an extended wait for coffee as it had run out and there were no pastries available at 9.30am., we were told they were all gone. There were two workers around but neither seemed to prioritise guests at breakfast, they disappeared off somewhere. The saving grace for us was that we slept well and it was quiet overnight. We had dinner at the Lamb down the hill, which was delicious and had excellent service . No amount of quaint and quirky makes up for the very poor quality of accommodation and lack of customer service and we wouldn’t stay again.
