The Waterfront Lodge

Would have helped inform my choice if I'd have known it was also used by local council to house people with issues and others under witness protection.. yeah someone I chatted to having a ciggy told me that & also as I checked out there were two PCSO's at reception to collect her. I've never seen so many CCTV cameras in a hotel before. Must be 50 plus & all viewable from reception !! Looked like a strawberry from last guest still on the floor next to my bedside table after two days & that included one clean after the first night. No actual issues from anyone & hope they get the help they need but be aware you get groups gathering at the canal behind - sure some of which stay in the hotel I booked it because location was good for work & Wetherspoons nearby but won't ever be returning that's for sure - I've stayed all over in many places and this was just weird and I'd imagine a bit scary maybe for some.

I wasn't expecting much when I saw previous reviews and went prepared but was pleasantly surprised. The entrance is at the back, accessed by the car park. Convenient location. I was a bit wary about people being able to walk in and out, but reception was manned, nice staff and lots of CCTV all over the place. I was glad we had a fair walk to get to our room though. The room 502 was large, clean and well equipped. It overlooked the main road and yet we weren't disturbed by any road noise. The breakfast was very nice, with continental and cooked breakfast options. This was just a base in Brighouse for 1 night but I felt it offered good value for money, and I would be happy to return.

DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL ANYMORE!! IT IS NOW A HALFWAY HOUSE FOR CRIMINALS COMING OUT OF PRISON! Drug use/ fighting/ alcohol abuse outside and inside . Disgusting, and families are booking into this and they don’t know. I’ve complained to Calderdale Council. £19 million is getting spent on the town centre and we have this right in the centre. It used to be a beautiful Italian restaurant/ hotel. This needs closing down .
