Puma The Majestic Hotel

Sadly my stay at this hotel was disappointing. There was an event on the grounds that took all the space up. It was nosiy as they built and prepared it, also the outside portable aircons was a constant drone. I was disappointed as i had gone for a spa weekend. The noise started at 8am each morning. Then there was also a prom on one night with the bass of the muisc in our room. I feel mis-sold on the a spa retreat. Please note if you go for the spa you only get 1 hour access a day. The room was clean and they managed my daughters gluten allergy very well.

I chose this hotel because of its reputation, history, and the beautiful grounds that are prominently featured throughout both the hotel's and Booking.com's advertising. The Majestic has always been presented as one of Harrogate's landmark buildings, and I expected a relaxing stay in keeping with that reputation. Unfortunately, my experience fell well below the standard I would expect from a Hilton property. Upon arriving on the evening of 9 July, we were checked in by a member of staff who appeared visibly frustrated and was clearly not suited to a front-of-house customer-facing role. While checking in, I asked about the EV charging facilities, which are advertised as being available at the hotel. I was simply told that they were operated by a third-party company and that the hotel had nothing to do with them. While I appreciate that the chargers may be owned by a third party, they are still advertised as an amenity of the hotel. On inspection, only one of the four charging bays was accessible. The remaining charging points had been fenced off to accommodate a construction company, which was using the area to store equipment for ongoing works. To make matters worse, the only available charging bay was occupied overnight by what appeared to be a staff member's vehicle, meaning I was unable to charge my electric vehicle at all. This caused significant inconvenience and should have been disclosed before my arrival. The following morning (Friday), I had arranged to meet friends on the hotel's front veranda. It quickly became apparent that a large marquee was being erected directly in front of the hotel, occupying much of the gardens that are heavily featured in the hotel's promotional material. This major construction project came as a complete surprise, as neither the hotel nor Booking.com had made any mention of it before or during the booking process. The level of disruption was completely unacceptable. While sitting on the veranda, we were subjected to constant hammering, loud impact tools, reversing alarms from forklifts, and continuous movement of construction materials. The noise became so intrusive that we were forced to leave the area altogether. Had I been informed in advance that the hotel's main gardens would effectively be a construction site during my stay, I would have cancelled my reservation and booked alternative accommodation elsewhere in Harrogate. I specifically chose this hotel because of its surroundings and peaceful setting, both of which were significantly compromised by preparations for what was clearly a commercial event benefiting the hotel. I raised these concerns with a member of the reception team, who advised me that the EV charging spaces had indeed been closed to allow the construction company to park vehicles and store equipment. I was also informed that management had already raised the issue with the contractors regarding the blocked charging facilities but had received no response. While I appreciate the honesty of the staff member, this simply reinforces that the hotel was fully aware of the disruption being caused to guests and yet continued accepting bookings without informing customers beforehand. I consider this a failure to provide the facilities and experience that were advertised at the time of booking. Guests should have been informed in advance that: This platform does not allow a small video showing the marquee and the level of noise we had. Mangmenrt were not willing to actively take part in any form when engaged regarding this issue.

I had a beautiful back neck and shoulder massage from Katie, and also a relaxing ivogorating full body salt scrub! Katie made my experience the best and it was one of the best back massages I've ever had! ❤️ I will defitnetely return for another one!
