VILLAGE URBAN RESORT South Leeds

We booked a two-night stay at Village Hotel Leeds South but left after the first night because of planned construction works taking place directly on the hotel. At approximately 8am we were woken by extremely loud drilling immediately outside our room. The construction platform and workers were directly beneath and alongside our window. We took photographs and video from inside the room which show how close the works were. What makes this particularly disappointing is that these were clearly planned hotel works, rather than unexpected external noise. We received no warning about the construction either when booking or when checking in, yet were allocated a room immediately beside it. We had also made staff aware that my partner was pregnant. We complained that morning and decided not to stay for our second night. The hotel refunded the unused second night but refused to refund the night during which we were affected by the works. We were instead offered complimentary use of the leisure facilities. I subsequently emailed asking the hotel to reconsider and explaining why we felt this was unreasonable. After receiving no further response for several days, I have now had to raise a dispute with my bank. Had the planned works been disclosed to us, we simply would not have accepted that room. I appreciate that hotels sometimes need refurbishment and expansion work, but guests should be warned when they are going to be placed immediately beside significant construction activity.

The car park was extremely busy and we struggled to get parked the carpark is used by gym members and there was no reserved residents parking the hotel check-in is all self service so felt a little like a supermarket self checkout the room was clean and the bed comfortable There are additional charges to park and to use the indoor pool There is major building work going on which we were not advised about and were woken by noise at 8am had I been informed of this I would have reconsidered my booking. When I mentioned this on checkout the member of staff apologised said I will pass that on (I doubt that will happen)
