The Legacy Rose & Crown Hotel

We stayed overnight on a Great Little Breaks deal. We checked into an Executive room which is in dire need of refurbishment. The cleanliness of the room was not of the greatest standard. Toilet bowl hadnt been cleaned just some blue liquid been poured down and marks still there ( needn't say more !) Cobwebs hanging off ceiling and dust all over tissue dispenser in Bathroom. Windows and doors in need of urgent upgrade as could hardly lock the outside door for access to garden. The table and chairs outside the door didnt look like they had been cleaned in months. On the plus side food was really good and the setting by the river is wonderful. To sum up i just think the hotel rooms are in urgent need of refurbishment and make sure you dont have a downstairs room as you can hear every creak from the floorboards above. Not much sleep when they are getting up at 5am walking about and not leaving the room for an hour !

From start to finish, we truly couldn’t fault the service. From our very first meeting through to our perfect wedding day, everything was handled with care and attention. We had several meetings leading up to the day to ensure every detail was exactly as we wanted, and any questions we had were always answered promptly via email. For the price we paid, the level of service we received was second to none. Maisie went above and beyond to make sure I felt completely at ease on the day. She took so much pressure off me by handling last-minute details, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Most importantly, she was always approachable, supportive, and reassuring. The food… wow! Our guests are still talking about how incredible it was. I can be quite particular, and we made a few changes and additions to the menu, but everything was accommodated without hesitation. The team genuinely cared about making sure we had the best possible experience. The dj communicated with us throughout the process also to ensure we had everything we wanted and it’s was set up perfectly for our evening, again he went above and beyond to make sure it was perfect for us. We also booked the punting as an extra as this is also a bonus that rose and crown can offer and this experience for us and the guest was amazing. We will absolutely be returning for meals, along with many of our guests. The hotel grounds are stunning—perfect for a relaxing or romantic meal by the river, not to mention the beautiful views of the cathedral. If we could do it all again, we wouldn’t change a single thing—except maybe to make the day last a little longer! We couldn’t recommend The Rose and Crown enough. A true 10/10 experience.

We had a fantastic stay! We were a Summer Works group of 22 people, and the hotel went above and beyond by organizing a BBQ for us. The food was delicious, everything was well prepared, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure everyone was looked after throughout our stay. The rooms were comfortable, the facilities were great, and nothing was too much trouble. A big thank you to the whole team for making our stay so enjoyable. We really appreciated the extra effort that went into hosting our group, and we would happily recommend this hotel to anyone looking for excellent hospitality. We hope to visit again!
