Abbey Hotel Golf & Country Club

Lovely friendly staff all staff were so nice Jess in the breakfast room and Ana were lovely and friendly and kind with our dogs the hotel manager Odile, was lovely kind and definitely cared about her guest's at the hotel we had an issue with our room and we got moved immediately to a beautiful room overlooking the garden and given a complimentary breakfast which was lovely, the best I’ve had in a hotel the spa was great lovely gardens and nice afternoon tea

A large party of golfers stayed at the Abbey on a very warm weekend. The positives are, the staff in the bar and restaurant areas were very welcoming and helpful, great job. Pricing was very good, bar prices as you'd expect, but not over expensive.The hotel is in a lovely setting and outside bar area was great. The rooms depended on what room you had. Mine was a very roomy with a great bathroom, the smaller rooms were very tight. With no air con in the rooms the smaller rooms were extremely hot, one guy slept in his car. Everyone agreed the evening meal and breakfast were very good, not complaints at all. Negatives are the golf course. It had has some changes due to selling off some land. The greens were painfully slow, tees possibly the worst I've seen, with many having no grass at all. Fairways need cutting, grasses and white clover growing on many, and the rough is "rough"with many bare patches. Also with the changes to holes and course set up GPS was useless, and no yardage markers anywhere on the course. Bunkers were also full of stones in places. Signage could be better when walking through the housing estate on back nine, its a good walk.. Shame really as could be a nice course but need alot of tlc to get it in a decent condition. Overall great weekend with the guys as always. But wouldn't return due to the golf course. Try to always be fair with my reviews, sadly the course lets the hotel down.

Excellent stay yet again. We have now stayed at the abbey hotel twice, price is exceptional, food is amazing and staff are friendly and attentive. Only one minor issue and that’s the warmth in the room in summer, but provided a fan for the room which helped. Overall excellent stay and we will be back again.
