Worst experience I've had staying anywhere. No exaggeration. I never leave reviews but I would like to save someone else the mental distress. I booked to stay here for 2 nights for a conference. The place was an absolute dump; cold, dirty rooms, uncomfortable beds. After I had already booked in and paid (at around 7 at night) I got an email from them saying I wouldn't be able to stay the second night (which I had already paid for) due to a " misunderstanding", meaning I was stuck in Birmingham with nowhere to stay. This has never happened to me before and was extremely scary. They didn't even offer to help me find somewhere else. This caused me to have a panic attack as I did not have money to book an expensive hotel last minute and had no way of going home for 2 days. I ended up having to call family abroad in tears asking to borrow money so I could have somewhere to stay, as the hostel wouldn't pay for any of it. It was such a horrible experience. Didn't get so much as an apology from the person at the front desk as I was checking out in the morning and they didn't even pay for my taxi to the other hotel. Really horrible place. Would urge you not to go.

This hostel is disgusting. Firstly the receptionist who checked us in had no customer service nor people skills. Our room seemed okay when we walked in but once I climbed up on my bed I saw the window above my bed had been smashed. Management obviously knew about this because there was no class anywhere. Yet still, they put paying guests in that bed. I went to reception as asked for a bed change and got my apology. The bathroom was the grottiest bathroom ever. Mould EVERYWHERE and to make everything worse, there is a security camera on the wall outside which can see right into the bathroom!!!!!!!!!! Is that even legal!?!?!?! (See photo- this was taken from the toilet) The kitchen was no better which food scraps and peoples dirty dishes everywhere. This isn't necessarily the fault of the hostel but when there is no clean glasses or cutlery for the guests to use, it is their problem to fix. I have learnt my lesson and will never stay in a Hatter's ever again.

Except the awful smell because of the occupants I found the place value for the money. It’s close to city.Broad street is just 20 mins away. Breakfast was good. I recommend this place for anyone who want to live in cheaper accommodation close to the city
