Admirals Quarters by Wyndham Vacation Rentals

We stayed at Unit 1507 at Admiral Quarters in Orange Beach, Alabama. What a view. This is a luxury condo with almost every amenity you need. The condo is clean, smells fresh when you walk in. The patio has very comfortable furniture where you can sit and admire the sunrise or sunset. There is shade most of the day and, of course, a nice breeze. This is my second time staying and, hopefully, not my last. The owner's provide you a guideline to print out before your arrival and are easy to contact.

Unit 1005 at Admirals Quarters The unit smelled of mold and/or mildew when we entered it. Obviously, there has been water damage on the inside of this unit evidenced by water lines on some of the trim between the walls and floor. Swollen boards and quarter round wood along the baseboards have not been removed or replaced. There is one panel of wood next to the refrigerator that is split and swollen at the bottom of the board. It should have been removed or replaced. The furniture in the entire condo is very old and dated. Most of the chairs at the dining room table are ready to break. The backs of the chairs were very weak and loose. The “chandelier” over the dining room table is dated and has light bulbs of different “white” colors. Even though there are multiple bulbs in the chandelier, good luck on getting enough light on the table to eat, play a game or work a puzzle. There is one small table in the family area with a broken leg. The table does not stand flat on the floor but does stand on the floor with one leg probably 3 to 4 inches off the floor. There is a “leather” type chair that looks filthy. The entire condo had very large patched areas of white spackle but had not been painted. This was true all throughout the entire condo. I can only speak to one bedroom and that is the bedroom we stayed in (not the master). Again, the furniture is dated, there was only one nightstand in the room. The bathroom had paint peeling off the wall near where the shower was. Thank goodness the owner had provided a plunger for the toilet because you had to constantly plunge it to get it to flush. The dust ruffle for the queen bed had about a 15 inch rip in it. I do not think any of the areas behind the furniture, under furniture or under beds had not been cleaned in a very long time. The utensils for the kitchen were limited and the utensil drawer was a wreck. All the balcony furniture is totally rusted through. The balcony table has one leg missing a screw and the other screw holding that leg is getting ready to fall out because it has rusted loose. Someone is going to hurt themselves on one of the chairs because they are totally rusted and waiting to fall apart. The foyer ceiling and dining room ceiling have large cracks in them that should be addressed. The kitchen pantry area has been locked bythe owner so the only place that you can place your drinks, snacks, or non-refrigerated food items is on the kitchen or island countertops. I have photos to back up all of this information and will provide them to anyone who will ask. The owners are getting a healthy weekly rent but they are not investing it back into their condo. The complex of Admirals Quarters looked very nice. The outside of the building looked good. The common areas of the complex, lobby, elevators, swimming pools, pool areas all looked good.

UNIT 1005: 1st: Been going to Admirals Quarters for @ 20 yrs. One of the worst units yet. REEKED OF MOLD on initial entry-never dissipated.. Furniture--old, worn, stained, feather quills sticking out of pillows, uncomfortable. Most storage closets (including kitchen pantry) locked. Master bed so high my wife couldn't get in it without a stool. Patched, unpainted areas of walls in most rooms. Dry rot evident in floorboards. Kitchen supplies variable. Light shades over dining table filthy. Bar stools uncomfortable to sit on. No chaises on porch and other furniture rusty. Auto setting for A/C fan on secondary unit never worked--ran "ON" the entire week. When folks convey accolades like "beautiful, spectacular, etc.", I have to believe they are referring to the beach directly in front of the building and location of the complex/building and the view available to every unit in the building above the 2nd floor. Clearly, not this unit per se. Our experience with other units has been variable over the years, but not as unsatisfactory as this particular unit.
