KENAI RIVER LODGE

VERY nice place. It is dated but management has done many updates - beds, paint, etc. VERY clean. Location is superb if you are a fisherman. Right on the Kenai with metal platforms and cleaning stations. Its a short walk to fish across the river. Plus they have a freezer room you can store your fish. If you dont fish, every room has a view plus there is a bar with outside viewing overlooking the river. Does not serve breakfast ( fine with me! ) but nice cafe across the parking lot and restaurant across the street. We left a bad VRBO in Homer for Soldotna - wish we would have spent the whole week here!

Great Place to stay. Lots of activities on the river, right next to our room. Several places to watch the river from. Friendly staff. Comfortable room beds and bathroom. Close to activities in town. Nice bar on the property.

KRL is a motel that serves its purpose with a really great lounge right on the river, although it’d be nice if they had a better food selection than a few bar snacks. But it’s really beautiful and has gas fire tables as well. All the rooms have river views and they have microwaves and refrigerators. Also, you can fish off the river bank and they offer a free freezer for any fish you are taking. The rooms are serviceable and clean but fairly old and could use more light. Soldotna as a city is convenient if you are looking to stay in between stealing and Kenai but it’s pretty overbuilt on the main drag and not nearly as charming as, say, Cooper Landing. But we were out on fishing excursions every day so we didn’t spend too much time. Overall, I might stay there again because it was a really good value, or I might try the best Western, which offers free breakfast.
