Best Western Plus Tempe By The Mall

Rooms are very basic. I hate hotels that keep their coffee pots in the nasty bathrooms😰. Associates were nice. Right across the street is a nice mall. Good area for travel. There was a lady who looked homeless trying to book a room when I arrived, she had no ID so there was an issue. She had NO mask with COVID raging and she was just going on and on. Why they didn't make her put a mask on is beyond me! Smh.

So, checkin/out was okay. The staff was all good and were doing what they can with the limits they had. The issue is the cleanliness of the hotel. There was a full roll of toilet paper under the bed along with other trash like candy, wrappers, paper etc. There was black mold in the bathtub, around one of the soap dispensers (there were supposed to be 3 dispensers, but one seemed to be missing) and some more mold on the wall. Speaking of soap dispensers, they were empty. The pool was cloudy, had an unclean smell, maybe it was excessive chlorine or something, but we could not wash off the chemical or scum that was on the skin and hair after. We got locked out of our rooms. The keys would not work. Fortunately, front desk and maintenance were able to get us in our room while the issue was resolved. I think that, due to Covid, housekeeping was limited to a certain amount of days which may explain why the room was not really clean. More like spot cleaned. Hopefully more time will be taken in the cleanliness of the rooms and pool...

Outer area and lobby looked great. The computer/printer area was helpful. Everything was great. ICE machine were not working except for the 1st floor. The noise level each night from the adjacent rooms was constant throughtout the night even though there was different guest staying there. Upon going to my room for the first time, my door was open. Upon returning from being out and after maid service my room was open. (Door was not completely shut when allowed to shut by itself.)
