Disneys Grand Californian Hotel Spa

LOCATION can not be beat! We had a standard room located in the main lobby building. While it was on the 5th floor, it was right next to the elevator and the staircase to the lounge above. I asked for a quiet room and was told that I may hear noise at night when they clean up the lounge, OR i could wait for another room to be ready. I chose to keep the 5th floor room knowing that if it were too loud, I could change rooms the next night. To my surprise, they failed to mention the actual location and that I could hear all the noise from the lobby. Not to mention the monorail ran right outside our window. This all being said, it was very noisy, but when returning to the room close to midnight, it was very quiet and we did not change rooms. As for the room itself, it was nice, a bit older, but comfortable beds. The small couch was hard and not comfortable at all. The worst part of the room was the bathroom, I am not a big person and found the toilet/shower area was very small and hard to maneuver. For what I paid, it was worth it and I got a very big discount. I would not pay full price for this room!

I would just like to thank the wonderful staff at the Grand Californian Resort and Spa during my stay in May 2026. I became very sick while there and 3 of the staff members were so amazingly helpful to my mom who trying to take care of me! Luann V. , and Denise B at the front desk were so kind and and supportive! And Juan at Storytellers Cafe was so sweet to my kiddos who very worried about their Mama! As a mom, this kindness and support meant the world to me. So thank you for having such amazing guest services reps!

This review is for "Disney Vacation Club Grand Californian Villas". We stayed in a 1 bedroom unit for 4 nights. The unit is plenty big enough for 4 adult size people and 1 child (under 4'6"). They have recently replaced the 'pull out couch' in the Living Room with a Queen Murphy Bed. It was comfortable. Also in the living room is a small murphy bed for a child. There is only one 3 drawer "nightstand" next to the murphy bed for storage. We hung as much as we could in the entryway closet and had to leave the rest in our suitcases. Since these 1 bedroom units are regularly used by 4+ guests, Disney should really include better storage for the guests not staying in the master bedroom. The kitchen had everything you need. There was a good sized table to sit at. In the "main" living area there is a 2nd bathroom. It is small {fits only 1 person at a time}, with a walk in shower. No storage. The shower door was not installed evenly, so water came out the bottom. There is shampoo, conditioner & body wash in dispensers inside the shower. No lotion was provided. Towels were scratchy and mis matched. They left only 2 towels in that bathroom. We did not sleep in the "master" bedroom. It has it's own bathroom. After staying at the property for 4 nights I have to say, I would never pay what they are asking to stay there. The #1 plus is the location in terms of proximity to California Adventure and Downtown Disney. #2 plus is they allow you thru Security and into the plaza 30 min. early, {before they open the big security checkpoints for non Disney property guests}, so you will be the first ones in the Park. Other than that, the actual accommodations were no better than many of the hotels that surround Disneyland property. If you are standing in the plaza between the 2 Parks, you could get to you room faster if you were staying at the Best Western Plus Park Place Inn or the Tropicana Inn and Suites across Harbor Blvd., than the time it took us to walk thru Downtown Disney, into the property of Grand Californian, thru the lobby, and down the way to the 'Villas' building. That being said, we did not have young children w/ us, so that may change your opinion, BUT for for price you are going to pay for a 1 Bedroom {$2,000 Per Night}, or a single room w/ 2 double beds {$900 per night}, I argue that you could spend less than half and easily get a very nice room with room to accommodate everyone, including breakfast + walking distance (truly) from the entrance to the park. The pools @ Grand Californian were nice looking, but that would not have changed my opinion on the value either. The location is excellent. The 30 min "early" entry that get's you to the entry kiosk first is great. The rest is just a "decent" hotel (albeit w/ a beautiful lobby), Nothing that special.
