Hotel Pepper Tree

The hotel staff were extremely helpful throughout our stay with recommendations and also just in general very friendly. Our room was a perfect size for what we needed, clean and hotel tidy. Didn’t use the hotel breakfast so can’t comment on that. Close to the parks, and we used the secure parking round the back of the hotel and it was perfect.

Great hotel, super friendly staff, very clean. Huge shoutout to John working on Thanksgiving and the following morning- he went above and beyond to make us feel at home.

This hotel was a major letdown. I'm usually one to accurately get a feel and potential vibe of a place based on reviews, but that did not prove to be the case with this property. The pictures and overall image the hotel convey online are vastly different than what is actually served. This isn't about location or trivialities like that. I grew up in Orange County and know the 'good' and 'bad' places well. Rather, this property was nowhere near a boutique or mission/vaguley hispanic styled resort. It's actually a rather dingy property, with dirty carpets and halls that have seen better days. There's still remnant of covid era protocols in the lobby, plexiglass glass and a temperature taking machine. Which in its time was nothing bad, but now reads as lazy and dated. The rooms are large, but musty and equipped with worn furniture and a "landlords special" sort of paint job. The kitchenette seems to be convenient, but really has an awkward inventory. In our room we got two differently sized warped pots, some dull knives, dingy spoons, stale salt and pepper, and ice that was crystalized over. There is either a private balcony or patio area in every room, but it isn't well kept so it's a series of dull dead vegetation, and to top it off no screens on the patio doors so bugs just fly right in. The beds are squeaky and have the thinest bedding that consist of a thing sheet and then a slightly thicker, but still very thin warming sheet. To be fair, the pillows are plentiful and were comfortable. The shower had the most awkward placement for the toilet paper, clean but musty worn towels, but none of the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispensers worked. We had to manually lift up the lids, pop off the bottles, and squeeze on our own. To top it off, the to go breakfast is ridiculous even for what it is. Literally gas station style options of muffins or pasties and that's it. Also the ultimate con, when checking in they "upgraded" our parking, but upon check out charged as if though it was a service we booked. Their literal wording was, "because you were upgraded, we charged you the service fee." Which is comically such a scam given that "upgraded" in that context usually means, well, that it's a spontaneous curtesy done by the hotel for the purpose of good customer service and not a gotcha at the end of ones stay. Side note, for those booking with the intent to go to Disneyland...this place is just a drive away, but do yourself the favor of staying closer to the parks. The switch off isn't worth it to staying this far. If you're looking for dated decor, dingy showers, worn furniture, musty smells, indifferent service, and mysterious brown streaks on bathrooms fixtures...have I got the place for you!
