Motel 6 Auburn

First the positives. Super nice front desk people and nice lobby area. Pool looked nice, but I didn't use it. Comfortable bed with clean linens and bathroom was adequate with clean towels. Wifi was reliable and reasonably fast. No noise issues staying on the 2nd floor after I requested a move from the 1st floor next to the parking lot and entry. In the parking lot are new looking EV DC fast chargers — a nice amenity for guests or anyone with an EV. There were aesthetic issues with the room that were good reminders it was a two-star hotel, which in that sense met my expectations. But I was surprised there was no shampoo or conditioner provided in the shower. Even though I was in a non-smoking room and there was no smell of cigarette smoke inside the room, as soon as I walked out into the hallway, and especially the stairwell, it absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke, especially within the stairwell. Both the vinyl covered steps and carpets in the hallways looked super dirty. Maybe some security cameras would help prevent or discourage bad guest behavior when it comes to lighting up? Going out the "backdoor" to the parking there was an overwhelming smell of urine, most likely from the dogs that potty in the designated area located immediately next to the entry. I would hope they consider moving that area and put up signs clearly indicating where it is. That backdoor, which requires a keycard to open, was propped open with various wood sticks the entire time I was there even after I removed the stick, securely closed the door, and told the front desk - not the hotel's fault per se if guests are behaving badly, but they also didn't seem to be concerned or seemed like they were going to do anything about it. Given the super strong smell of cigarette smoke and dog urine I had to wade through every time I left and came back to my room, I would recommend against staying there. If you don't mind those olfactory stimulations, then the price was reasonable for the immediate area.

We've always found this Motel 6 to be reliable. It covers the basics. Our room was clean and staff were wearing masks. Coffee is available in the lobby from 6 to 10 am. The only negative was a strong smoke smell in the hallway where the non-smoking rooms are located. No cigarette smell in our room, though. The n/s rooms are easily accessible via the lobby without having to climb stairs. Bring your own shampoo.

We booked this hotel for a 1 night stay, hotels.com advertisers the hotel as a non smoking hotel but when i got there all that was avaiable was a smoking room.and was guaranteed that the room wouldnt smell of smoke. I went in the room and the smell of old smoke was so nasty. There was cigarette holes in the sheet the bed is just a box spring, the shelf was broken there was a hole in the toilet door so no privacy. The fan in the bathroom was so noisy. It was the worste room i ever seen so i went and complaoned and all he said was you can call corporate and no other rooms was avaiable so we checked out and went to another hotel.
