Quality Inn & Suites Bakersfield

I had a reservation through Choice Hotels. I am a single woman traveling alone and this was NOT a safe area in downtown Bakersfield! The lady at the desk showed me the room, and I told her that I did not feel safe staying at this location. I asked her if there would be a fee for cancelling, and I will get a hotel (still on Choice Hotels) in a better area though it would cost me more. She said, "no problem, I will cancel." I asked if there would be a charge, and she said, "no charge. It's covid." Now, I find that they did not cancel, will not cancel, and are saying I was a "no show." Horrible area, Dingy looking rooms.

$100 for a room dirtier than the landfill. Requested 1 bed got 2.Drug dealers around cars.Tub & sink broken.We were told we would not be refunded or moved to another room.Should be condemned indefinitely.

Clean room and hotel. Good reception. They gave us 2 packages of cookies at check in. To replace the hot breakfast they provided instant oatmeal, granola bar and bottle of juice. Clean and well appointed expect they had a round toilet. Could use a grab in the shower. The parking lot is in horrible shape. Only 2 handicap parking space at the front of hotel.
