SUPER 8 EL CERRITO/BERKELEY

This hotel was excellent for my five night stay visiting family in Albany. The housekeeping is A+, cleaning and making bed daily. The check in was easy and hotel staff friendly. The room is huge with a king bed and good mini fridge and microwave. Sure beat paying $300/night at the Berkeley marina hotel or an AirBnb without AC in July.

Absolutely unacceptable. It is listed as a smoke free hotel but the whole place was saturated in marijuana smoke. It was impossible to sleep because we had to leave the windows open to get away from the smoke. Fire safety code violations, and I have photographs to prove it. Absolutely rude staff and the entire place was so filthy. It’s hard to describe. Avoid this place at all cost

My wife and I stayed at the Mira Vista several times in the past several years. Our most recent visit was June 9 thru June 17, 2025. The hotel is located in a retail/commercial area on Potrero Ave, between San Pablo Ave & I80, easy access for auto travel. The BART is an easy 10 minute walk and public transportation is available at the corner of Potrero and San Pablo. A 5-10 minute walk east on Potrero will take you under the BART tracks into a residential area of single & multiple family homes and other neighborhood amenities such as parks, schools and churches. There are many restaurants, Safeway grocery store with pharmacy, and other retail stores within a half mile of the hotel. It is an older hotel. I guess 30 to 40 years old. It was probably originally a low budget hotel of one of the major chains. We stayed at a room on the first floor. All the rooms have interior access. There are no outside access to any of the rooms. The room was clean and equipped with a small refrigerator and microwave. The first floor had manufactured wood throughout, including the rooms. There was no carpeting. Our room had 2 platform beds. Both were very comfortable. The rooms were surprisingly quiet considering the location. The front desk staff and the housekeeping staff were, as usual, friendly and attentive. There is a small laundry room with a a washer and dryer available on the first floor. Every morning coffee and pre-packaged bakery goods were available in the lobby. The lobby was clean and comfortable.
