Lagonita Lodge

Lagonita Lodge is our favorite place to stay in Big Bear by far! They have the best staff. Not just one person but the whole team really make your getaway great. Such a fun place to be, they offer so many fun activities for all ages. You can rent a boat directly with them if that is something you want to do. Great family freindly place to be rite on the Lake. You really do not have to go anywhere if you do not want to. We go up several times a year and only stay at Lagonita Lodge! Thank you to all the wonderful staff but in particular Justin in Engineering, Cindy, Roxanne, Sara, and Mike all in Activities Coordinators. Rodger-Engineering, Front desk-Janice, Heather, and Bethany. And of course Scott! We can't thank you all enough!

Great location with lake at the property! We had a spacious room and really like that they have recycle bins on site.All the staff were very nice and rooms were clean. Would stay again!

​The Good: Exceptional Staff & Lake Access ​The saving grace of Lagonita Lodge is undoubtedly its staff. Every interaction was met with friendly, genuinely helpful service, which goes a long way. ​The property also offers a great mix of activities to keep you busy, and having competitively priced boat rentals available directly on-site is incredibly convenient for a day out on the water. While our room had a partially obstructed view, it still offered a decent, pleasant look at the lake. ​The Bad: Aging Infrastructure & Steep Prices ​Unfortunately, the friendly service cannot mask the fact that the property is dealing with old buildings in desperate need of serious infrastructure renovations. Given the age and the current lack of updates, the room rates are easily double what they should be. ​No AC: It is 2026, and in an area where allergies are king, having a clean, climate-controlled environment is essential. AC needs to be installed in every room immediately so guests don’t have to choose between opening windows for air and dealing with intense pollen. ​Parking Hazards: The parking lot layout presents a safety issue. Management needs to prohibit large pickups from parking on the blind corner exits of the lots, as they completely block the line of sight for departing vehicles. Knowing that this is occuring and allowing it to continue is negligence. ​The Ugly: Unabated Noise & Lack of Enforcement ​If you are anything less than a heavy sleeper, be warned. Noise permeates through these old buildings completely unabated. Because the structural soundproofing is practically non-existent, quiet hours need to be strictly, actively enforced by staff. Simply posting signs does absolutely nothing. ​Be prepared to be jolted awake by an inconsiderate neighbor letting their door slam, undisciplined kids running wild in the hallways, or an elevator door closing with a shockingly loud bang like nothing you've ever heard before. ​The Verdict ​The best I can give this property is two stars. If you do choose to stay here, bring your earplugs and white noise machines—and even then, don't expect a peaceful night's sleep until this lodge gets the deep structural overhaul it desperately needs.
