Carmel Wayfarer Inn

This room was not a value by any means. I would say this establishment is the equivalent or less of a Motel six. After my husband took a shower I was unable to because there was no hot water left.. The bed was decent but there was this clumsy little blanket, put up above the hanger rack for the clothes. , There was no room on the counter vanity in the bathroom to even Try to get ready.. the in room coffee was basically died water because there was no flavor to it. If you were a dog owner, I’m guessing this would work out great because the floors were very basic.. but for what we paid for this room it’s very disappointing. I had to ask them to come vacuum the bathroom after we checked in because there was so much sand on the bathroom floor was covered in sand. Upon check-in, the owner was very nice to forfeit his parking place for us when he saw how much we paid for the room because it was last minute. But we will not be staying here again. It needs some serious aesthetic attention.

This hotel was just okay, and it was too expensive for what it is compared to other hotels. There’s no continental breakfast, no microwave in the rooms, my ceiling fan didn’t work, and there’s no phone in the room. I know people have cellphones, but considering the office closes early, an outside line would be good for safety purposes. So many people complained about the cleanliness, or lack of, and nothing is done about it. The floors could use a good washing, and the bathroom should be deep cleaned. It was very bare bones, which is fine, but it’s lacking in several areas. For the price, a continental breakfast and microwave in the room should definitely be included. I love Carmel and want to return, but I probably won’t stay here again.

I haven't even set foot into this hotel and the correspondence with hotel staff, specifically Mike Patel, has been incredibly concerning. I booked directly through the hotel webpage, and a few days after booking, I received over 10 emails, all with the same content asking me to confirm my booking but from different email addresses, all purporting to be from Carmel Wayfarer Inn. Those emails indicated that Carmel Wayfarer Inn was using a new reservation system and stated that I needed to confirm my booking within 24 hours otherwise my booking would be cancelled. I attempted to call the hotel numerous times to double check if this was legitimate and could reach no one. I then emailed the hotel's email address, informed the hotel that I had received numerous emails requesting that I confirm my booking, and asked whether I in fact needed to confirm booking as the emails indicated. The response I received was "yes mike." At this point, I became increasingly concerned that I had been booked from a scam webpage. I continued to try to call Carmel Wayfarer Inn. Eventually, after more calls that went unanswered, and a follow up email, the same Mike emailed me to let me that my booking had not been cancelled. Again, I remained wary that I'd been scammed and wanted to get a person on the phone to make sure I didn't show up at a hotel with kids in tow with no booking. I tried calling the hotel phone number several times before I was finally able to reach a hotel staff, who informed me that the hotel webpage had been hacked and that I should not click on the links included in the various emails I had received -- the opposite of what Mike, Carmel Wayfarer Inn's manager, told me. I requested a callback from Mike to get a cancellation since the whole experience left an incredibly bad taste. Mike not only did not return any calls; he was not apologetic whatsoever. He said nothing about their system breach, the fact that guests' personal information had been leaked. Stay away and please monitor your credit cards and personal information if you booked from here recently!!
