The property is seriously in need of rehabilitation. It’s stuck in the 70’s. The pool area is still nice but the rooms need a serious upgrade. The staff is nice and accommodating. The problem we ran into is the shower. When taking a shower it smelled horrible. It was like sewage. I reported it and nothing. They were sold out so moving rooms wasn’t an option. The AC wasn’t blowing cold but the maintenance man came up and fixed it. I told him of the shower problems and he said it was from years of hair and goo buildup in the old pipes. He put a bottle of drain opener and it did nothing. We’re very disappointed in the Encinitan as we’re have stayed there many times in the past. The location is perfect along with the parking but we’ll look elsewhere the next time for a more modern upgraded property.

Wish I'd checked the reviews before booking. The poor reviews are accurate. There's a reason they had rooms available last minute even with a decent view/location.
Room itself was decent. But the amenities and service are severely lacking.
On arrival I noticed there's no bar or restaurant on site. There's a "coming soon" sign on a place across from the entrance, but who knows how long that's been there. I see one other review from a month ago is commenting on the same thing...so there's that.
I asked for change for a $20 so I could tip housekeeping but they're a "cashless hotel" so no good there either. Not sure how that's gonna work with the "coming soon" restaurant if they don't take cash.
Hopped on the internet and it was under 2 megabits
speed, which won't even let me watch YouTube at over 480p. So I'm basically stuck in the year 2000. Meanwhile the internet died overnight and when I call the front desk they tell me it's my fault because it's working just fine on their personal phone. The issue is clearly that they haven't invested in a proper mesh network because the wifi shows 1 to zero bars of service, meaning they have rooms that just aren't close enough to their devices to get a good signal. My experience is a bit unique because I rely on something playing in order to sleep. So this internet issue also meant I was unable to get a full night's rest.
I paid over $400 for a single night here. I've paid less than half of that to stay down the street and had a better experience, which is what I'll do next time if I need a last minute room. This place is rated as a three star hotel but it should definitely be a two star, which is generous considering the better experience down the street is a two star.

The Hispanic guy that works during the day is worthless. Bad customer service. Gives you wrong information about where things are at in the hotel. Always on his phone sitting down up front. Wrong guy to represent your establishment. People like that will drive potential guest away.
