Clarion Hotel

This is a good base for a multi-day stay exploring Eureka and the area around Eureka up and down the coast. It's not fancy, but offers solid value relative to other hotels in the area, and the staff are notably friendly and helpful. Access to the Humboldt Bay Trail (walk/bike) and Eureka Waterfront Trail are only a few blocks north of the hotel and provide tidal marsh and water views across the bay plus bird watching - this is a "hidden feature" of the hotel location that made for great morning/evening walks. Hotel is within 1.5 miles (walkable) of "old town" Eureka. (Yes there are some unhoused people; we had no issues.) There are several restaurants (thai, asian, mexican) near to the hotel for eating after a day out at the beach or redwoods. Gated parking works well. Good fresh coffee. Breakfast just ok - eggs, potatoes, breads, muffins, cereal, waffles, fruit - enough to get going but kind of minimalist - lacks simple things like salsa or cream cheese. Rooms (back side, upper level) are nice with comfy beds. There's a large Target a couple blocks away for any supplies. We saved hundreds of $$ staying here vs a nicer place down the street - worked well for us since we spent most of the day out exploring!

The place is sketchy. You must enter the parking lot through locked gates. What should that tell you. The furnishings in the room were dated and run down. The room was dimly lit including the bathroom area. The place is nothing like the pictures.

Good for one night traveling through. Near road but did not hear traffic. Friendly front desk staff who gave us a great recommendations for Mexican restaurant. Very large bathroom which was very nice with wonderful hot shower! Comfortable beds. Very clean room and even had water bottles there for us. Secure parking and breakfast included- waffle,. Apples,Bananas, bread,Pb , jelly, Cereal/oatmeal, Eggs. Hash browns, coffee and juice.
