Calderwood Inn

Planned a trip with my significant other and another couple for wine country and couldn't recommend this place more. It was very conveniently located and walkable to everything in Healdsburg while not being right in the middle of everything. We both booked suites and the rooms were great and spacious. Breakfast every morning was fantastic. Enjoyed being able to sit around in the living room or on the porch and enjoy some Wilson Artisan wines!

We were looking forward to our stay - but ended up being very disappointed. There is a lot of deferred maintenance- the wallpaper seams are coming lose all over the room we stayed in. The lovely wallpaper in the entry hall has holes etc that have never been fixed. The front porch wood is terribly damaged from water and needs to be repaired. Chairs in our room need replacing due to age/soil. Breakfast was abysmal- a thimbleful of yogurt (maybe 1 ounce) - followed by a scoop of scrambled eggs with a tiny sprinkle if goat cheese, one piece if bacon and prebuttered toast that was hard as a rock. The coffee was like hot brown water. Cookies are left on an uncovered plate by the front door (which you are discouraged from using- they are nit appealing looking. We encountered 3 different “innkeepers “ who seem to have very reduced hours. The backyard is overgrown…. It seems like no one cares about the prperty any more.

It was okay. The room was large and comfortable. Nit-picky stuff: Every 10 minutes or so, there was the sound of a motor starting up and running for about another 10 minutes or so. It sounded like a large refrigerator condenser running, but not the one in our room. It was quite loud. This went on 24/7 and was very disturbing. Don't know what it was but it frustrated us immensely. Also, we try to be conscious of not having our room cleaned every day, so we asked for every other day, which in the time we stayed there worked out to be only once. They made the bed and left towels. They did not clean or replace the water glasses we used or the coffee cups and did not refill the coffee creamers in the room. The patio was lovely, but the chairs they had for you to sit on are torture devices. Metal bands for the seat were so uncomfortable. We had to take small pillows from the room to sit on. I'm sure we're not the first. Would we stay there again? No.
