Econo Lodge Maingate

Cleanliness was top notch. Property has beautiful landscaping and continental breakfast was a plus (includes Eggs, biscuits gravy, cereal, bagels, etc.) General Manger, his wife and staff were extremely helpful. It was my sons birthday and they decorated the room for us which was very nice. The staff really goes above and beyond and cares about their guest. The general manager takes pride in the property and truly cares about his customers. We hope to come back to Disney next year and will definitely be staying here if we do.

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. Bees entered my room during the night through the gap under the door, creating a clear safety risk. When I reported it, the front desk refused to take action and stated they could not offer a room change, maintenance, or any form of compensation. I was essentially told to deal with it. This is not just poor service — it’s negligence. Insects entering a guest room is a habitability and safety issue, and the lack of response shows a complete disregard for guests. I’ve documented everything and escalated this to Choice Hotels corporate. Book elsewhere if you care about safety or basic customer service.

We originally booked this to visit Disney but then decided to do Universal only and couldn’t find a cheaper deal so kept this booking. We may have rated this higher had we been using it for the convenience of the Disney location. The rooms are clean yet dated. There’s an unpleasant smell in the bathroom and sink - clearly from sewerage. But they are spacious and served our family of 5 well for a place to sleep and change. The breakfast is not great because the space is too small to handle the amount of people. The breakfast itself is actually good (when it’s replenished). Lovely fluffy egg and a range of cereals and good yoghurts. One toaster to handle people toasting bread and bagels is ridiculous though! Overall, we were happy with the price (since LA hotels are ridiculously priced anyway) and it did what we needed it to do. Would we return? Probably if we visited Disney in the future.
