Comfort Suites at North Camp Pendleton

SERIOUS WARNING - DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY If you are considering staying here, PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE BOOKING. During our stay, we discovered what appeared to be black mold throughout the property, along with extremely unsanitary and unacceptable conditions. This was far beyond a property simply being "not very clean." We were genuinely concerned about the potential health and safety risks, especially for children and anyone with respiratory sensitivities. What made the situation even more disturbing was management's response. When we brought these issues to management's attention, instead of providing a safe and sanitary solution, the manager attempted to move us into other rooms where we also found what appeared to be mold inside the air-conditioning units. We were not comfortable being moved from one room with suspected mold to another room with the same serious concern. I contacted Expedia to request a refund and explained what had happened. Expedia contacted the property manager, but he refused to honor the refund and told Expedia to have me call him the following day at 10:00 AM. I called at the requested time, expecting management to finally address the situation. Instead, the manager laughed at me, yelled at me, and offered me $50 cash - but only if I drove four hours to pick it up. He also offered me 50% off a future stay. I explained that after this experience, I would never stay at this property again, so a discount toward a future stay was completely unacceptable and did absolutely nothing to resolve the problems we experienced. The most concerning part is that when we reported what we believed to be a serious health and sanitation issue, we were not provided with a clean, safe alternative or a reasonable resolution! *Based on our experience, I strongly urge anyone considering this property to think twice before booking. A vacation should not come with concerns about whether the room you are sleeping in is safe or sanitary. The condition of the property and the way our concerns were handled were completely unacceptable. We will never stay here again, and I would not recommend this property to anyone -- especially families traveling with children. Please do your research and consider staying somewhere that takes cleanliness, safety, and guest concerns seriously.*

OMG. DO NOT STAY HERE! After walking through the cigarette smoke down the hallway with spray painted tagging from the local meth addicts from across the street we got into our cockroach infested room. The beds were as old as San Clemente and horrible. So uncomfortable. The box AC runs 24/7 and does absolutely nothing but make a loud noise. The black mold next to the AC (see photo) is in a great spot to get blown all over by the damp hot air from the fake AC. The employees at the desk could care less about anything. Really… avoid this place at all cost. It’s not worth it!

This place is absolutely disgusting. DO NOT STAY HERE AT ALL COSTS. We ended up having to get a refund for the rest of our stay because the room was so gross. The floors, walls, and curtains were dirty, which was bad enough—but the bed sheets were the worst. They clearly did not appear to be freshly cleaned or changed. We asked for new, clean sheets, but the replacement sheets were still dirty and had stains on them. At that point, we no longer felt comfortable staying here. I would strongly recommend staying somewhere else. One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had.
