1849 Condos At Mammoths Canyon Lodge

When we arrived, our very outdated condo smelled like stale cigarette smoke, and the people staying next to us were clearly consuming cannabis products as the hallway wreaked of it. They also had a very loud dog that was barking constantly, but we were willing to let all of that go. We’re easygoing folks. We were also unable to use the pool or hot tub with our children because starting at 330pm until late, they were crammed full of 20-somethings blasting loud music and drinking. Again, all fine, we didn't complain, despite our kids being bummed. What was disturbing was when the property manager showed up at our unit before check-out time and started yelling at my wife and small kids because we were running a few minutes late (this was at 9:30am, 30 mins before we had to be out). We had requested a late checkout earlier due to a snowstorm the night before that was setting us back and the fact that we were wrangling 6 kids under 7, but we were declined. Again, fine, we were only running a few mins late at this point and even offered to allow the cleaners to start while we finished packing our car. The manager was not interested in reasoning with us and had zero sympathy as he continued to send threatening messages. We had the kids out the door at 10:15 (15 mins late) and were on the road by 10:30, yet they charged us $100 and told us that if we left a bad review, they would have it removed. The whole interaction was quite disturbing and unsettling. So be warned, the people that run this place care very little for their guests and could use a few lessons in customer service. The only good thing about this place was the location but the facilities felt more like a college dormatory from the 80's than a place for families to enjoy.

We stayed for four nights in Unit 611 at 1849 Mountain Rentals at Mammoth and could not have been more pleased! From ease of making the reservation (including a call directly to the office to inquire about which units were best suited for what we were looking for) to a very energetic and welcoming check in to a fantastic unit, everything was outstanding! We had 8 adults in our 4BR unit and that was perfect although if kids are in the group there is plenty more room for them too. The living room and wrap around sofa was perfect for hanging out and especially for watching the Super Bowl and the elevated dining room table for 8 was perfect for meals and games. Not to be left out is the amazing location, a 3 minute walk to Canyon Lodge or a 1 minute walk to a snow covered path you can ski down right to the lift. If there was one small downside the Jacuzzi was closed due to Covid but obviously that was beyond managers control. We have stayed in Mammoth for over 15 years and this is by far the best place we have ever stayed for families, even better than Juniper, Main Lodge or condos by the Village (don't have to ride Gondola up and back) and the people here couldn't be more friendly and welcoming!

These condos are individually owned. The one that we stayed in (209) was well appointed, and even had an extra half bathroom that was really nice to have. Check in was easy, and the staff are helpful and welcoming. There's hot drinks in the lobby for certain hours of the day too. The location cannot be beat, and also the underground parking. It's my favorite Mammoth accommodation!
