MARTINE INN

The line between quirky and classy and old and rundown is narrow but this property is definitely the latter. Needs major refurbisment to justify prices charged. Friendly staff but nothing else going for it. Breakfast is basic for example only egg offering is scrambled. Avoid and spend your money elsewhere.

The staff at the Martine could not be kinder or more attentive. The innkeeper Casey was attentive to every detail. We arrived quite early for check in and went in without luggage just to see if we needed a parking permit in our window to park on the property. Casey went out of his way to be sure the room was ready and gave us a wonderful tour of the inn as well as local information on where to eat and park. The views of the ocean were spectacular, and the breakfast in the gorgeous dining room was more than delicious.

We stayed in the Edda Head room. It was spacious, bright and had a glimpse of the ocean. Breakfast was great. The property is very historic but we could not enjoy the fireplace. There were no matches and no receptionist after 9 pm. When we finally found some matches. they failed to ignite the fire. The wood and paper were too wet. The next morning, all but one outlet under the desk gave in. We had to sit on the floor to blow dry our hair.
