Desert Hot Springs Spa Hotel

Very disappointed in our stay. Two nights for just under $600 was really unreasonable. In addition to the room photo’s the upper stairwell and walkway was only illuminated from the lower level. There were numerous trails of sticky spills and grime on the walkways/stairs some obviously baked by the sun for sometime. I gave a 2 star rating only because the cafe was clean and the staff great. A housekeeper carried one of my bags up a flight of stairs without being asked. Overall disappointing.

We only came to try out the Mineral Springs pools and buy a day pass. There are 8 pools, different sizes and temperatures. They ranged from 74 degrees (largest lap pool) to 104 degrees while we were there. Employees seem to test the temperatures every 30 minutes and update the whiteboard which lists each pool. Only 1 pool had bubbles flowing and others all were still water. We stayed for 2 hours. This location had the lowest prices of all mineral springs pools. Since we just wanted a few hours, this location worked out best. We did try out all pools but liked the hottest pool with bubbles the best. People were friendly and seemed like many local people were there. We also learned that this hotel and the Miracle Springs Hotel/Spa are sister resorts. You can buy a day pass for the Miracle Springs and use at the Desert Hot Springs pools. But the same person said that the Miracle Spa pass cost more than what we paid. Bring your own towel, lock (if you wish) and flip flops. We didn't have locks, so just brought our street clothes and towels with us and moved the items from pool chair to pool chair. Lots of free parking. The negatives: the locker room to change clothing didn't seem very clean. One ladies shower stall which I used to change clothes, had standing water in the shower. YUK. There were several stalls for showers and changing areas with a shower curtain for privacy in the ladies bathroom. The men did not have any curtains and just 1 large area to change in. There were showers but no curtains in the men's area. We decided to dry off very well with our towels and drive back to Palm Springs and not shower or change back to street clothes. The Mineral water did feel good on our skin, no bad or weird smell in the water. One employee provided a list of the minerals that were in the water which was fun to read.

This is my happy place. Settle into the mineral pools at sunset, look at the palms and the sky, and enjoy the moment. It's one of the few family-friendly resort hotels in DHS, and you'll find all generations enjoying the waters. The rooms are dated, but the price reflects that. The staff are kind and helpful and all rooms have bathtubs. It's a gem.❤️
