Motel 6 Petaluma

We had a very disappointing experience during our stay last night. Unfortunately, the room had several serious cleanliness and maintenance issues, including what appeared to be black mold growing on the walls and baseboards, a puddle of water on the floor behind the toilet, and a very dirty floor with visible hair and crumbs. We arrived late after attending a wedding, and when we got there, the hotel’s key maker wasn’t working. Someone had to walk us to our room and let us in. After unloading all of our luggage, we noticed the condition of the room and immediately called the front desk to request a different one. Unfortunately, the second room had essentially the same issues. We also had problems with communication and the late checkout we had arranged. We were told we could check out as late as 1 PM, which we agreed to. The next morning, we were woken up by loud talking and banging right outside our room. Despite trying to get some more sleep, housekeeping was knocking on our door at 10 AM. When we called the front desk, the room phone barely worked, so we had to use our cell phone. We were then told there was no note of our late checkout and that we had to be out by 11:30 AM. When we asked to speak with a manager, we were told no manager was available and that our concerns would be passed along. Between the condition of both rooms, the noise, and the lack of communication, this was an extremely frustrating experience. We contacted the card provider we booked through and filed an insurance claim. Due to the health concerns with the room, we are receiving a full refund. We would not stay here again and would recommend that management address these cleanliness, maintenance, and customer service issues.

I made this reservation on the Wyndham app. Unfortunately, the app wouldn't let me write the review there. First off, the guests at or around the hotel were rather shady. The clerk was on the phone with the manager for a half an hour talking about the staff shortage the next day while I waited in the lobby. The clerk was a nice enough guy. Next issue was the room he put us in which had a burn hole in the sheet and there was standing water in the bathroom. I requested another room and showed the clerk a photo of the room, he apologized and put us in a better room. I say better but there were oil stains in the bedspread on one of the beds and black mold in the corners of the shower. Further, the pool had algae growing in it.

Basic rooms clean but need a refresh, a lot of rooms occupied by odd people and the smell of weed was quite heavy outside. Some burn marks on the bed covers as well. Its a good location mind and the staff were very friendly and the ac worked very well indeed
