Lexington Historic Cary House

I absolutely love this hotel! Because it’s old, filled with history, and nestled in the beautiful Sierra Nevada foothills, it has a charm you just can’t find in newer hotels. I “run away” to the Cary House at least once a year, and every visit feels like an escape. The staff is always warm, welcoming, and accommodating, which makes the experience even better. I also love that the hotel is right on Main Street. I can step outside for a quick bite, take a walk, or wander into one of the shops along the street. I especially love the antique stores and MaddyWags! Before you visit, take a little time to look up the history of the Cary House. Knowing its story and the history of the area makes staying here an even more exciting experience. It’s not just a hotel—it’s a living establishment with a past, personality, and a wonderful sense of place.

As a frequent guest to Placerville's Gold Country, the Historic Cary House Hotel has never failed me. An authentic step-back-in-time experience awaits along with the reputation of friendly spirits lurking around the lobby, halls and select rooms. But what separates Cary House from all other accommodations is the sincere welcoming front-desk staff that goes the extra mile -- always with a smile -- to make one's stay as enjoyable as possible

My husband and I stayed at Historic Cary House Hotel for two nights. We had a nice stay. Check-in and Check-out was very easy. The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. Parking is in a lot near the hotel and there is a $10 fee per day. We stayed in the James Marshall room located on an upper floor. The room had a living room with a kitchenette, bedroom and a bathroom with a shower. While the room is spacious and clean, it definitely needs an update. I understand it’s a historic hotel, but our room was a bit tired looking. Also, there is an overpowering lemon disinfectant smell in the room. It is great to just exit the front door and walk to so many great restaurants and shops in Placerville.
