Marriott San Diego Mission Valley

It’s an average hotel. The lobby and pool area are nice and plenty of shade areas to lounge. The room was a decent size and I like that it was hardwood flooring instead of carpet. The beds were comfortable. That being said - I had booked a pool view room and did not receive one. I arrived at 10:30, aware it was early but wanted to leave my bags and perhaps use the pool. The front desk took my items and told em to return by 4 for the room. I guess she hadn’t checked me in at all as when I came at 4, they still hadn’t assigned a room. We were given one, not a pool view and there were wrappers and crumbs on the ground. Went back to the front desk, he provided me with a new room and offered complimentary parking. Second room - cleaner but still had crumbs and filth on the floors around the bed frame and still no pool view. The view didn’t matter much as we were there one night but the price for the pool view was more than the regular. Since we’d moved already we just stayed. The shower is ok but not the cleanest as there was a lot of water and scum build up. Also, the drain was full of hair from previous guests, the toilet wasn’t cleaned well either. The area under the sink was covered by a loose piece of plywood which is where the towels were. This was an odd and not the cleanest/nicest set up. I checked out through my Bonvoy app. And upon receipt of my charges turned out they had charged me for parking after all. They refunded it after I brought it to their attention (“as a courtesy”) . They are packed with lots of youth sports families, so lots of kids in the pools, lots of kids running and goofing around the hallways late at night too. Glad it was just for the one night for our stay.

The housekeeping team did an outstanding job throughout my stay. My room was impeccably maintained, and they were always quick to respond whenever I needed additional items. As a Marriott Bonvoy member, I had breakfast each morning in the M Club. I particularly appreciated the avocado toast with eggs, which was a welcome addition and one of the better M Club breakfast offerings I've experienced. One of the highlights of my stay was getting to know the two bartenders, Mattie and Jamie. They were warm, welcoming, and genuinely made the restaurant and bar a fun place to unwind after a long day at the conference. I decided to extend my stay for a few extra days, and over the weekend the hotel hosted a number of professional MMA fighters. Watching everyone in the fitness center, I found myself thinking, "Wow, everyone here is incredibly dedicated to their workouts!" I later discovered they were all professional athletes, which certainly explained it! The fitness center was spotless, and I was excited to learn from the staff that plans are underway to nearly double its size in the coming months. The location is ideal—close enough to downtown and the convention center while offering a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere than staying in the Gaslamp. I also appreciated the easy access to shopping, restaurants, and the trolley. Overall, this was another exceptional Marriott experience. The outstanding service, excellent food, welcoming staff, and comfortable accommodations made for a memorable stay. I will absolutely stay here again on my next trip to San Diego. 10 out of 10! Highly recommended.

Had a wonderful experience at the San Diego Marriott Mission Valley last week. Don't let the exterior looks fool you. The hotel is modern, clean, and updated on the inside. Great lounge and lobby restaurant! But what really made the trip special was front desk associate, Jellyne. She was a standout star. Very warm, helpful, accommodating, and extremely knowledgeable in her role! She was able to make some complicated changes to our reservation with great ease. She deserves a promotion! Thank you Jellyne for making it a great stay!
