Comfort Inn Ventura

Paid for a King and was given double queen. Room smelled like heavy mildew, curtains were black with dirt, pubic hair all in bathroom. Very dissatisfied.

Clean hotel, breakfast was good and staff was welcoming. The manager Bernadette was awesome she was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to talk to.

There is a "Santa Barbara surcharge" that starts north of Ventura. We've stayed at this hotel a couple of times to avoid paying higher prices while visiting family in Carpinteria. The hotel hasn't changed much over the years, but this time we asked for an ADA room - so here's our feedback. Hotel is a typical Comfort Inn. Well run and clean. Bed was comfortable and the free breakfast had the usual buffet style offerings. Freeway egress was easy. It is located in a busy part of Ventura but it was surprisingly quiet. Internet access was fine. It was a cool night (typical of Ventura) so we didn't use the A/C. I am not that familiar with everything that does into making a room ADA, but here is what I noticed. I think our room was #10. It was on the ground floor near reception with a window facing the parking lot. Thankfully, the blackout curtains worked fine. The room seemed a bit larger than their normal King rooms, but it's been a while so maybe it was a standard room size. The bathroom was truly ADA ready - if necessary, you could roll into the shower. Good grab bars, good nonslip surface, and a folding seat. Not much else to report. I used the dryer - reception desk had change for that. Both of the women in charge of reception were super helpful.
