Stayed here for 4 nights in the most uncomfortable old lumpy beds in a very dark cave like room on the bottom floor where the daylight is at minimum. All the time we stayed there the floors were not swept the bathrooms were not cleaned the bare minimum of service was done to the room the beds were made but not dusted off the waist baskets were emptied and the towels replaced but yet it felt dirty because of the unswept floors. The bathroom was very small the door hit the toilet seat so you had to do some maneuvering with the toilet seat and close the door. Flushing the toilet was a waste of water in time with flush and flush and nothing would go down for at least four flushes. I asked the manager guy in charge to send someone to my room to plunge the toilet because the toilet was going down very slowly, and I was afraid it was going to overflow but nobody was sent. He gave me some PS story that all of the hotels in Santa Cruz have the same problems with their toilet and there’s nothing to be done about it, but if I wanted to, he would come to the room and plunge the target which he did not. The continental breakfast is at minimal minimal. If you are not there before 9:30 in the morning, do they take everything down exactly at 9:30 is a fury of five people rushing to the breakfast station and closing everything down they claim that this ain’t no smoking hotel but they were cigarette butts in the parking lot outside of my room all week so they don’t even clean the parking lot. This hotel must have a contractors. If you arrive at the hotel at night, you’ll have a hard time finding parking because you’ll notice that the spot have been taken out by a lot of trucks that were there in the day and they are not responsible if your car gets hit. Santa Cruz is a beautiful city and I hope to come back there again soon, but I will never ever stay at this hotel ever again.

Good location. Cheap and cheerful, ideal for one night when travelling. Lovely staff.

Very disappointed! We booked 2 rooms, 1 king size #230, and the other one 2 queen size #231 on March 28-29. The room #230 had very distinct smoking smell, burned smoke on both nightstands, no safe box, bed was hard and bedding was rough, not soft, plus AC did not work, and the wall was very thin, you can hear everything! Second floor looks like a patch up job, not sure if it's safe with the stairs as well. Breakfast room was very small, with not enough table & chairs for customers to sit down, no staff attended breakfast room, everything almost out when we're there around 8.30am. Complained and asked for a refund for room #230 to the front desk that seems to be the owner, but told me to email to general manager instead, never got any reply back until now, very upset especially we paid $192.35 per room per night!!! Stay away!
