Best Western Plus Gateway

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, large room but did not have the cot for our 16-month-old. Breakfast very, too simple with packaged foods. Amazing location, quiet and half an hour walk from Santa Monica Pier. Overall positive experience.

The hotel was clean and the room a decent size, but there are no frills. Free water bottles on night one, the roof decks were closed, the restaurant shut down and one elevator was out of service for 2 days. The location is ok- about a mile from the beach but plenty of restaurants to walk to. The free breakfast is really snacks only- nothing substantial. There is a gym- quite small but clean. There is parking at $20+ per day. The rooms as I said were clean but no robe, some supplies and a fridge. It is reasonably priced so you get what you pay for. Staff nice.

I’ve stayed at this hotel several times and it is a winner! From friendly hosts to very comfortable rooms to a desirable location, it exudes class. Angie,in particular,is a most hospitable manager, and always has a smile! The location couldn’t be better. Multiple coffee shops within three blocks, Walgreens and Whole Foods an easy walk, Big Blue Bus to the beach or L.A. stops right across the street. And, the light rail 17th street station is a five-block walk. Santa Monica Brew Works is just two blocks away and features great craft beers and tasty food-and-and it’s very family-friendly and packed most evenings. Really, no need for a car at Gateway Hotel as the walkability is impressive. I give this hotel a top value.
