Pros: Great downtown location in the historic district. Cons: The hotel is severely dated and poorly maintained. A heavy, persistent smell of Indian food permeated the building and guest areas for the entirety of my stay, indicating very poor ventilation. Inside the room, the mattress was worn out, sagging, and desperately needs to be replaced. Furthermore, the furniture fabrics and upholstery appeared heavily worn and looked like they needed deep professional cleaning. Parking is also inconvenient, requiring you to use the street or cross a road. While I appreciate historical architecture, basic air quality, comfort, and cleanliness should never be sacrificed.

My friend and I stayed at La Rose for his birthday. We also stayed for his last birthday and the last two Christmases. Even though we are local, this is aways a treat for us. The rooms were cozy and clean, the housekeepers were on top of everything, water, coffee, and tea were always available to us. All in all, we enjoyed the comfort of the rooms, especially during the rain, and admired the beauty of this historic hotel.

We stayed 6 nights and loved the service, location, friendliness of staff, connection to Gibson’s Noshery (restaurant). Great scene for walking to the light rail train, restaurants and shopping!
