A really sleasy place that steal from the poor locals. An oppressive place The food in the restaurant is the lowest quality.I wouldn't recommend this place.to visit. I can say it's a place to get out the cold and sleep in the bathroom toilet after they take all your money

Looking for a distraction and stopped in to mostly browse. Nostalgia came to mind as I walked through the casino. The staff and security were easy to locate if needed. As it started to rain and while there, I enjoyed a very delicious lunch where I could still play Keno at the table. I did not have accommodations here.

We love this traditional casino in Downtown Reno. We came to Reno for a concert at another property across town and the CalNeva was recommended for its' Top Deck restaurant, local flavor and a great value. We were not disappointed. We came across town to eat breakfast and have a couple dinners at the Cal, in addition to gamble and have a few drinks. It's an older property, but that is the charm. I have fond memories of trips to Reno from years past when Fitzgeralds was in business (now Whitney Peak). I felt very welcomed and the staff was super friendly and accommodating both at the restaurant and throughout the casino. I hope the CalNeva is around for many, many years. It will be on my list to visit when I come to Reno. Unfortunately, the downtown area is going thru rejuvenating issues, as I felt less safe than in the past walking the streets. But being in the casino was absolutely fine with plenty of security. There's also free parking in the adjacent parking structure. If you want to see what Reno was like, the Club CalNeva has preserved its' no pretentions friendliness, which I really appreciate in this day and age of corporate entities. This is not a hotel/casino, just a casino property. Some years ago a hotel was attached, but I believe it turned into apartments owned by the Siegel family. My comments reflect my opinion on the casino only.
