The hotel is a short easy walk to a beautiful beach. Indulge in the weekend breakfast buffet. Having the Club W onsite was a pleasant surprise with 24 hr access to drinks and coffee. The grounds were very well kept with beautiful koi in the pond. The pool was clean and big enough to not feel crowded. With one of the biggest hot tubs I've seen. Walk to the nearby pier and Ventura, along the water or on the concrete path only 30 minutes away.

Ventura Beach Marriott hotel was a major disappointment overall and unfortunately a flop for PlaneVoyage.
The front desk and security team were generally friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They assisted with luggage, upgraded us to a suite, and gave us late checkout, which we appreciated. The room was fine for a short stopover, and the low EMF exposure helped with rest and sleep quality.
Unfortunately, the food, breakfast, executive lounge, and service operation completely ruined the stay.
Breakfast is advertised until 11:00 AM, but we arrived about 15 minutes before closing and then waited nearly 10 minutes to be seated because the restaurant was understaffed. Guests seated before us were already complaining that they had no cutlery and were being told they could no longer order omelets or waffles because the kitchen had already closed.
When we asked if we would still have enough time to eat, the manager assured us there would not be a problem. That was not true. Once seated, we were told the chef had already gone home and only the buffet remained. When we referenced the earlier assurance, the manager denied saying it.
The buffet quality was extremely poor, mostly fried or sugary processed food, with very few fresh or healthy options. The eggs looked strange and unappetizing. There was no bottled water offered. We also asked twice for sourdough bread and tea bags and never received either.
This hotel should also be avoided by anyone with food allergies, sensitivities, or dietary restrictions. There was poor ingredient transparency, limited fresh options, no clear allergy conscious service, and no safe replacement options once the kitchen closed.
The billing issue made the experience even worse. A $10 breakfast voucher was not applied, and we were charged $15 for a child who only had one piece of bacon. Staff refused to look up the receipt because it would take “too much time,” which is unacceptable.
The executive lounge was also a failure. Shelves were nearly empty, the coffee machine was broken, and there was not even hot water available for tea. When we went to the bar just to get water, a waiter said “give me a break,” ignored us, and walked away.
The biggest problem is not the building. It is the operational culture. There is poor accountability, weak service leadership, poor staffing management, and a defensive attitude instead of a hospitality mindset.
PlaneVoyage recommendations:
• If breakfast is advertised until 11:00 AM, guests seated before 11:00 AM must receive the full breakfast experience
• Keep the buffet, chef, and kitchen operating at least 15 to 30 minutes after final seating
• Honor breakfast vouchers properly
• Do not charge unreasonable child breakfast fees for almost no food consumed
• Improve staffing during peak and closing breakfast periods
• Retrain management on guest recovery and accountability
• Stop asking for positive reviews while unresolved complaints are happening
• Improve buffet quality with healthier, fresher food
• Clearly label allergy friendly items
• Train staff on food allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions
• Restore executive lounge standards and maintain equipment properly
• Reinforce professionalism across all food and beverage staff
The hotel has potential because the front desk employees clearly care and the property itself can work for a short stopover. But unless management seriously fixes the food and beverage operation, PlaneVoyage would not return and cannot recommend this property, especially for loyalty members or travelers expecting executive level hospitality standards.

Pool, hot tub available. Comfortable, clean room. Breakfast was delicious but slow as molasses. Dinner was delicious and served in a timely manner. Had water available to fill water bottles. Across from and in-n-out if you are a visitor and wish to try to the famous fast food place. VERY easy to get to the ferry to take you to Channel Islands.
