Napa Valley Railway Inn

I’m glad I stated once at the historic and cute hotel; however, we ended up in the coach house (not one of the railway cars) and the coach house seemed quite run down and definitely not worth the price. Positives: great location, comfortable bed Negatives: room wasn’t clean (dirty towels were on the floor and hanging in the bathroom), the sheets had someone else’s hairs in them (long black hairs in the sheets and I have red/blonde hair so clearly not mine), AC didn’t work properly (so loud we couldn’t sleep and the room never got cool—seemed like the old window unit outlived its life based on the extremely loud noise and the cool but not cold air—it was cooler in the shade outdoors than in the room), and the power went out in the middle of the night Without staff onsite, there didn’t seem to be a good option for any of the issues given we were only staying 1 night. For the price, I wish I had stayed at another hotel on the main strip that also would have included amenities and onsite staff.

I tried to cancel my reservation 9 days before arrival. Due to the current fire north of Napa, and my 85 yr. old sisters medical condition, and that the LA times reported the fire only 9 days in advance, we needed to cancel. The napa valley rail hotel will not refund the entire amount for the 2 rooms for one night (over $650) for health reasons. Their email says +10 days $25 for each room, 10 or less you get crap refunded. My sister lives in LA and has cancelled her trip north. Don’t ever reserve a room with this hotel! Unless you have money to burn…..,

Romantic ambiance in the guise of a train. Plenty of excellent restaurant choices around. A place for a taste of wine for the evening wine outside of rooms. Bring your glass.
