There were blood stains on the comforter. The owner didnt seem to care at all. They over charge for what you are getting. They wont give refunds FOR ANYTHING!! Shady people wondering around at night and the owner doesnt care about basic cleanliness.

We stayed here for two nights during our Big 2018 Road Trip. We were looking along old US 85 for a non-chain motel with a relatively short walk between the car and room on a busy summer Friday night, and the TravelStar was one of the few places with a vacancy (they filled up a few minutes later). Needless to say, the room rate was not in "bargain" territory, but it was a place to sleep and the staff was friendly. The room was OK, and the beds were large and comfortable. Our son was very happy with the swimming pool. Many food options in the area, even if the on-site restaurant looks long-closed. Convenient to many sites in the city. Biggest issue was fellow patrons sharing their noises (shouting, unmuffled vehicles, etc.) into all hours.

The neighborhood is a little rough but this little Motel is tucked away from the main road. The owners and front desk staff are outstanding. They really go out of their way to accommodate the guests. The housekeeping while friendly seem to have no standard of clean to go by. I would give this place 5 stars if it were kept up as far as cleanliness is concerned. While "deep cleaning" shouldn't have to be done everyday.... Guests don't want to see previous guests' snot on the walls. I believe that with a better housekeeping supervisor and set standard for upkeep, this place could raise a star level and enter the hotel classification instead of motel. Overall though I would recommend this hotel if you're looking for affordable lodging. They have smoking rooms and one whole building dedicated to non smoking rooms. They also have hot tub suites and family style suites with partitions to provide some privacy. Their pool looks fantastic but is seasonal only.
