We stayed in AvantStay's Viking Lodge #209 in Telluride last week. This property is disgracefully shabby and poorly maintained. They notified us that the pool and spa were closed for repair over a week *after* we made the non-refundable reservation. And, half of the parking was closed off for construction equipment and vehicles. No compensation or reduced cost for any of this. Beyond that, though, the property listing claims there is a dishwasher--there isn't. It claims there is a two-burner stove--there are no knobs and no way to turn it on. Instead, there is a two-burner portable stove, on which one knob is pushed in and one foot is missing, making it unstable and a safety hazard (and it took 30 min to boil water for pasta). It claims there is a toaster--it is semi-functional and does not pop up properly (again, a safety/fire issue). Half the mugs in the kitchen were dirty. My kids found a vape canister under the couch, so obviously the unit doesn't get vacuumed very carefully, either. The mattresses on the bunk beds are so old that you can feel every spring with your hands. The mattress in the bedroom slopes to one side from the center, because it, too, is worn out. One of the sliding glass doors that serve as windows in the bedroom has no latch or lock of any kind. The hot water faucet in the tub/shower leaks and the handle gets so hot a child would burn themselves on it. The toilet flush mechanism needs repair--we had to fix it twice during our 5-day stay. Will not stay with AvantStay ever again. Appalling at $300/night. Avoid.

The condo was small as advertised but well equipped. It is on the ground floor and right near the pool, so it was very noisy one evening. You can walk everywhere from the condo! You don’t need your car. We did have a problem with the freezer being noisy and they sent someone to fix it.

We booked a unit at Viking lodge through alpine lodging for two reason: location and pool/hot tub. The unit itself was lovely. We found out randomly the day before travel that the pool and hot tub were broken when I showed the photos of the unit to my husband. We reached out to alpine lodging to see if it would be fixed and it not could they offer some compensation. We were told hot tubs in mountain locations were quite difficult to maintain and they were sorry but nothing could be done. We asked for the manager to reach out and never heard from the manager. If the advertised amenities are not operable should come compensation not be provided? Even if it’s just a bottle of wine? We will not use alpine lodging for our next visit to telluride.
