I fell in love with this place right away, due to its comfortable/stylish public spaces, friendly staff, meticulously designed rooms, pleasant on-premises lounge/restaurant, and great location. It’s a block away from the Paul Rudolph-designed school of architecture and Yale art museums.
However, my wife did not get a good night’s sleep, because “the bed was too soft, duvet too heavy, pillows too large, walls too thin, and the A/C and traffic noises too loud.” She also didn’t care for the aggressive panhandlers hitting us up upon our arrival.

Probably one of the highlights of our New Haven trip! The Study at Yale is such a great place to stay. The layout is modern and very comfortable, even though the hotel opened 18 years ago.
We were given a lovely room with an alcove desk area which makes you want to sit down and write postcards — or even a novel — while looking out over the rooftops of Yale’s campus buildings. I just wish we had been a little higher so we didn’t have to see the AC machinery on the neighboring roof!
Everything in the room seemed well thought out, from the little night-light in the bathroom to the two luggage racks and the double shade, including a blackout shade. The bathroom was a bit small, but perfectly adequate. The water pressure was amazing. However, there was no mini-fridge nor a kettle which is okay with us.
The location is hard to beat, right on Chapel Street and just a stone’s throw from two of Yale’s best museum, the Yale University Art Gallery and the Yale Center for British Art. And, of course, Chapel Street has plenty of restaurants to choose from. We especially enjoyed the Union League café, where you should definitely have a meal.
The staff were friendly and always helpful. All in all, this is definitely one for the books. We would gladly come back to The Study and happily recommend it.

This hotel is well located near campus, restaurants and shopping. It’s stylishly decorated and also comfortable. We were slightly taken aback that our nice room had no refrigerator but when we called the front desk, they had one brought up (apparently they have a few available if you ask). We had dinner at Harvest down the street but the friend we went with said Heirloom, the hotel restaurant, is good, so maybe next time. The only ouch was the cost of valet parking.
